I caught the preview last weekend. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first because I'm a huge fan of the original. You know, the story, the acting, and all that geeky filmmaker stuff – totally my jam. But guess what? It totally blows the original out of the water.

Now, some folks my age (yeah, I'm north of 50) are stuck on the idea that nothing beats the good ol' days of cinema. Remakes? Nah, they say it can never top the OG. Well, this one proves them wrong. It's like they took movies and musicals, tossed them in a blender, and created something magical. Trust me, it not only meets expectations but does so with a genuine vibe.

In a world where remakes often fall short, this one flips the script. It's a must-watch. Seriously, run, don't walk to it. You'll laugh, you'll cry – especially at that ending. It's like a cinematic mic drop, something for the ages. I'll admit, "this" grown man shed a few tears in a theater full of ladies.

Hats off to the new-gen actors, actresses, and filmmakers behind this gem. They've got skills! The way they seamlessly blend movie and musical elements is just one example of their talent. It goes beyond the nostalgia of old-school cinema. They're not just paying homage; they're taking storytelling to a whole new level on the big screen. Magnificent! 5 stars

FYI: this is NOT a remake of the original movie, it is an adaptation of the tony award winning broadway musical version. the musical is much more closer to the book than the original movie. the musical is vastly different from the original so there is nothing to worry about. this movie will be its own thing. this new version and the original are two completely different movies. both can co-exist without diminishing the other. i think this movie will be amazing and i have no doubt in my mind that it will be a huge success

Oh my goodness the trailer itself has me emotional. The original Color Purple movie is one of my favorite all time movies. I remember the 1st time I watched it at the age of 13 yrs old in 1998 I was at awe. I was 3 yrs old when the original movie came out. I would make my PaPa sit and watch the original movie over and over again with me. I could tell he would get irritated with me. Lol! That is one of the great memories that I will always cherish that I had with my grandfather. So seeing that it comes out on Christmas my favorite and true holiday, I am going to be a emotional wreck sitting there in the movie theatre Christmas day God willing, just happy and crying tears of joy. I know everyone excited for fantasia and trust me I damn sure am too , but I am so excited for ms Danielle brooks as well I’ve been waiting for her big breakout role since her Netflix series “orange is the new black “ & so glad that taraji will get to showcase more of her talented . singing as well growing up my grandmother was obsessed with the color purple and I didn’t understand why so the movie would irritate me so much lol because it was played every day but I haven’t seen it in forever I just remember being a kid and it was hard to watch the mistreatment of celie but I had to go rewatch it before going to see the musical and as an adult I appreciate it more and I’m so excited ❤ can’t wait to go support and see this with my family 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I saw Fantasia on Broadway in "The Color Purple". So glad she reprised the role for the movie musical version. Her voice is magnificent. And I didn't know Taraji P. Henson could sing, she never sang on "Empire". Great choice for Suge Avery. Looking forward to the movie. 🙂🙂🙂

I have had it in my syllabus as I did my graduation in English literature! I remember crying while reading the story and when i was asked to tell the summary of it infront of the class! Im so excited for this one ohmygod 😭 its my favourite book of all time and im all in for it💜 Alice Walker wrote a masterpiece 💜

I was lucky enough to see the Broadway production of The Color Purple in NYC starring Fantasia years ago. My Mom and I were in tears during Fantasia's solos. This is going to be great!!!
