Having had his fair share of hardships, P. Reign a.k.a. “The King of Da North” knows all about overcoming adversity. Losing countless friends and family to gun violence and incarceration, he has managed not only to make it out of one of the most notorious neighbourhoods in Canada, but also to position himself at the forefront of Canadian music although I’m sure being able to call Drake a very close friend doesn’t hurt.
It’s the phrase “Loyalty is Priceless” that has kept the 24 year old Guyanese descendant grounded, among childhood friends, and has created a foundation for music and a movement that is just as real as the surroundings that shaped his life to date; it’s no wonder this phrase can be found tattooed on every member of the Reps-Up team. Created 7 years ago in the heart of Kingston and Galloway otherwise known as G-way, the Reps quickly gained a reputation in the streets throughout Toronto, a reputation that would ultimately lead to its demise. Dismantled by court cases and tragedy, P. Reign was consequently led to develop his own distinct sound and pursue a solo career and is currently touring throughout Canada and allowing his music to spread internationally.
The spirit of what Reps-Up was built on continues to blossom through the music. With an extended family that is as strong a supporting cast as any, P. Reign continues to make music that both women and men love (no homo on the latter). With a catalogue that would give your favourite artist a run for his money, song writing has never been difficult. P. Reign’s music address the complexities of street life, both good and bad; that of women, and the relentless pursuit of what he had never imagined growing up. His current single “In My Hood” produced by T-Minus (Ludacris: How Low) was released in spring 2010 and is blowing up the charts on FM radio in Canada and internationally. The video, directed by Sharpshooter released later on in the summer build a sensational buzz online across North America and was featured on numerous websites and blogs where it received nothing but positive feedback. The video for “Call My Name” was released in October 2010 exclusively on Thisis50.com and will be followed with the release of the mixtape When it Reigns it Pours on Nov 1st, on Thisis50.com as well!
To date, P. Reign has shared stages with the likes of Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Rick Ross, Flo Rida, Jasmine Sullivan and more.
Keep your eyes and ears open and look out for P. Reign coming to a city near you
Dipped In Gold
P. Reign Lyrics

You can hop on, unless you do me dirty
We in a hurry
The gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
Yo
That's how I stay happy
We want to change the game but the system's kinda laggy
Yo, don't try to test me
Stay in your own lane
How're you going to improve when you mentality stays the same
Fast life, some be living in a hurry
But it's not where your heading
It's all about the journey
Focus on the money
So I try to get mine
But this way of thinking got me losing my sense in time, you see
I try to climb, ain't no reason to stop
Shit was never given, so I make due with what I got
Till I'm at the top, I'm always driven
This 36 shitbox leaving my mark skiddin
I'm only living healthy when the fruit is forbidden
Salary is what defines your social position
And I'm still rollin spliffin, fuck what you're thinking
Try to stay afloat in this world that's sinking
The gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I'm getting out my shovel, dig these grounds to find my wishlist
God I'm trying to reach you, I just hope that you can hear this
Don't dismiss, just listen, there's a reason why I'm spittin
I turn the power on, ignite your brain to start the thinking (pling)
Warming up the engine
Starting off with some light spanking
You gotta unlearn all your instincts if you want to climb the ranking
Just testing
God I need a blessing
Make these people see that greed ain't something to invest in
I hope to plant a seed, and grow trees with fruit of wisdom
This life ain't about the speed or greed, it's how you live it
I'm trying to make you so that we don't live to wing it
When you live a life of love I think you're winning
True gold is in the journey
Everyday you get up early
Don't get spoiled, no don't get Shirly
Take the time, no, don't you hurry
Eyesight, is kinda blurry
I don't stress, no I don't worry
Cause the traffic lights are on my side
I'm ultimate, like Denzel Curry
Gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
I said the gold, gold is in the journey (journey)
Uh
The gold is in the journey
Some do me dirty
Twofaced like Shirly, surely
living life without a journey
Unstoppable no worries
Shooting trees like Curry
Yo, fuck this shit man cut it
The lyrics of P. Reign's song "Dipped In Gold" convey a message about the value and importance of the journey rather than solely focusing on the end goal. The metaphor of gold represents success and accomplishment, but the lyrics suggest that the true gold lies in the process of achieving one's dreams and aspirations. The line "Gold is in the journey, you can hop on, unless you do me dirty" implies that while one can join in on the journey towards success, loyalty is crucial and betrayal will not be tolerated.
The song speaks to the hustle and drive to change the game, but acknowledges that the system may hinder progress. The line "We want to change the game but the system's kinda laggy" suggests that the journey towards success may not be smooth or easy, but it's still worth pursuing. P. Reign emphasizes the importance of staying focused, staying true to oneself, and breaking free from fixed mindsets. The line "stay in your own lane, how're you going to improve when your mentality stays the same" highlights the need for personal growth and a willingness to adapt.
Overall, the lyrics encourage listeners to embrace the challenges and obstacles in the pursuit of their dreams, and to find the true value and fulfillment in the journey itself.
