Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophonist. The band's frontman, John Parish, became her long-term collaborator. In 1991, she formed an eponymous trio called PJ Harvey and subsequently began her career as PJ Harvey. The trio released two studio albums called Dry (1992) and Rid of Me (1993) before disbanding, after which Harvey continued as a solo artist. Since 1995, she has released a further nine studio albums with collaborations from various musicians including Parish, former bandmate Rob Ellis, Mick Harvey and Eric Drew Feldman, and has also worked extensively with record producer Flood.
Among the accolades Harvey has received are both the 2001 and 2011 Mercury Prize for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea (2000) and Let England Shake (2011), respectively, making her the only artist to have been awarded the prize twice. She has also garnered eight Brit Award nominations, seven Grammy Award nominations and two further Mercury Prize nominations. Rolling Stone awarded her three accolades: 1992's Best New Artist and Best Singer Songwriter, and 1995's Artist of the Year. Rolling Stone also listed Rid of Me, To Bring You My Love and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea on its list of their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2011, she was awarded for Outstanding Contribution To Music at the NME Awards. In the 2013 Birthday Honours, she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to music.

We'll find a place of hope
Just hold on to me
Just hold on to me
Walk tight, one line
You're wanted this time
There's no one to blame
(Come on) And I'm right on time
(My love) And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
And the bells keep ringing
(Come on) And the battle is won
(My love) And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
One day they'll be a place for us (And the girl keeps singing)
I walk and I wade
Through full lands and lonely
I stumble, I stumble
With you I wait
To be born again
With love comes the day
Just hold on to me
(Come on) And I'm right on time
(My love) And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
One day they'll be a place for us (And the bells keep ringing)
(Come on) And the battle is won
(My love) And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
One day they'll be a place for us (And the girl keeps singing)
Now is the time
To follow through
To read the signs
Now the message sent
Let's bring it to it's final end
(Come on) And I'm right on time
(My love) And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
One day they'll be a place for us (And the bells keep ringing)
(Come on) And the battle is won
(My love) And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
One day they'll be a place for us (And the girl keeps singing)
(Come on) And I'm right on time
(My love) And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
One day they'll be a place for us (And the bells keep ringing)
(Come on) And the battle is won
(My love) And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
One day they'll be a place for us (And the girl keeps singing)
(Come on) One
(My love) day
I (One day they'll be a place for us)
Know
(Come on) They'll be
(My love) A place
Called (One day they'll be a place for us)
Home
PJ Harvey's "A Place Called Home" is a song about hope and the power of love to bring people together. The song starts with the singer, PJ Harvey, expressing her belief that they will one day find a better place to call home, full of hope and joy. She asks the listener to hold on to her, to have faith that they will find their way. She talks about walking tight, following one line, to create a better future for themselves. There is no one to blame except for the circumstances that led them to the point where they are now.
The song is about the journey of life and how sometimes it can be difficult and lonely, but if we face it together, we will eventually find our way to the place called home. PJ Harvey uses images of walking, wading through full lands, and stumbling to convey the sense of struggle and hardship that comes with life. However, with love, they will be able to face the challenges that come their way and emerge victorious. The song ends with Harvey saying that now is the time to follow through, to read the signs, and to bring the message to its final end.
Overall, "A Place Called Home" is a powerful song of hope and faith in the future. It reminds us that life is full of struggles, but love can conquer all. It is a reminder to hold on to each other, to walk tight, and to keep moving forward no matter how difficult it may seem.
