Sure, the original is a great song with the bittersweetness of the 80s vibe. But this… This… It is a whole different story. It’s mesmerisingly dark and you can hear the combination of despair and irony in this magnificent voice that cuts like a blade. Superb.

First time I heard this version was back in 07 during my third tour in Afghanistan and being in a really really dark place after losing several of my closest friends and brothers in a nightmare situation... I haven't watched stranger things since season 2, just couldn't really get into it and captivated by it. But now that so many people are "discovering" this song and being played everywhere, it's brought back a whole flush of emotions that I haven't felt in so long. Crazy how music can do that to people, and the range of what emotions it brings to different people.

I was fortunate enough to introduce my children to my closest brothers parents this past year in a visit to catch up with him at his resting post. this was the first version I heard and what introduced me to kate bush as a teen back in the 00s. this one adds such a beautiful dimension of bitter resentment and a desire for retribution over kate's original themes, and as someone who was going through a lot of abuse at the time this came out - that will always be precious to me. I will always add that bitter "baby" to the thunder line, even when I listen to Kate's. So glad to see the songs are getting the attention they deserve again lately.

Until Stranger Things 4, I thought this was a song by Placebo for the last 20 years. I never knew that the Placebo version was a cover. My mind was blown since I grew up loving this song by Placebo since I was a teen, and now I'm a 35 year old discovering it all over again with the original version. I now love listening to both versions even though I think Placebo did it better, but the original is incredible too. It's a wonderful song no matter how you slice it. I've been listening to both equally lately. The way the original was used in the scene with Max running from Vecna was one of the most incredible scenes in all of Stranger Things.

A couple years ago this song was on my repeat playlist and I always played it out loud, my younger sister one time began mocking the “huh, huh, huh” in between each lyric making me and my ex bf laugh way to hard, she was always funny and outgoing. After that she’d always do it to make me laugh, it’s been little over a year since she’s passed and I’ve fallen down the repeat cycle of this song again. I adore Kate Bush's absolute masterpiece which I grew up with and listened to on a cassette tape. But during a really dark time in my life in 2010, one of my best friends put this on a mixed CD for me. And, I have admit that I love this rendition more than the original. It is powerful. As some one who danced to this version in my teens I was surprised to hear that a new version of the song was used in stranger things years later. I haven't been able to see anything past the 1st season but I was happy to hear the song again in a trailer many years later and remembered this. Thank you Placebo 💜 This iteration will always be my favourite.

The original, I think, is a special masterpiece. Over the years I came across more and more covers for the song. The things is, one cover is more amazing than the next... which goes to show you that genius recognizes genius. This cover by Placebo, Howevr, in my opinion, is definitely one of the better ones and is really brilliant!! And by the way, anyone who came here on purpose, you have great taste in music!

@floria dimitriu Ohhh.. k, The Chromatics did a really cool and beautiful cover, I think, very interesting interpretation for the song in my opinion!! Markus Schulz did a trance type of cover featuring Bev Wild, which I personally think is super cool and amazing! The official video is also really cool because the women there are really gorgeous lol, but I personally think the extended mix is better quality. Within Temptation did also a really cool cover in this metal/gothic type style, really good energy and unique, beautiful vocals, I think. Meg Myers also did a cover with beautiful vocals, a good tribute to Kate Bush. Nowlen Leroy also did a good cover, she has a beautiful voice, not too innovative from the original but very beautiful! There are more covers but these are the ones I know😀

This was one of my favorite songs to pole dance to back when. I was an anxious 80s baby, and Kate Bush was my soft space.
I didn't even watch stranger things, but I'm so moved since they put it back in the Zeitgeist.
Placebo is like a fantastic dancer who changes the piece, making it theirs.

I remember as a kid my mum kept bringing me to the library. I didn't really like books, but loved music and then discovered they also had CDs, so I got this placebo cd with this song on it and instantly fell in love. My hair went black and I became emo though, but worth it

Been a fan for a while - I saw them in a small bar venue in Charlotte back in '99. For those that don't know this song was on a Covers albumn they did. It has some other gems on it too.

The tough thing about covers is that we always compare the version we first heard (usually the original) to a cover. Kate's was the version I listened to for years before Placebo released this, and I don't think I could ever love a cover more, but holy crap - this cover is spectacular. I listen to it almost as much as I listen to Kate

what's shocking is that a LOT of 80's songs are dark in lyric, but light fluffy in the original release. the marketing teams forced them to do it. now, with out the $$ involved, covers are hitting the mark...you can find the real meaning and emotion. look up "girls just wanna have fun" chase holfelder. he does major to minor versions. really kicks the emotions.

So this song has been on our hangout Playlist for a while. I started listening to the Kate Bush original not knowing this was a cover until my husband pointed it out. I never really heard it until Stranger Things. I started playing it on repeat because I felt what Max felt listening to this song. When he pointed it out, I switched to this version because I do like it better. I felt like I knew exactly how Max felt as I lost my younger brother in an unbelievably terrible accident 12 years ago. (9/17 is the anniversary.) If I only could, I'd ask God to swap our places, where he's alive and I'm not.
