El último vals
Pablo Moro Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

La noche que dejaste la primera
huella de mujer en mi luna,
vimos juntos “El Último Vals”.

Después el tiempo fue doblando las banderas,
cicatrizando todas las dudas,
cerraron el Chanel, y algunos bares más.
Hoy en el videoclub,
alquilando “Uno de los nuestros”
no sé si eras tú

no sé si eras tú

o el recuerdo que guardo de ti
y que no te mereces.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Pablo Moro's song "El Último Vals" tell the story of a relationship that has seen its fair share of ups and downs. The opening verse takes us back to the beginning of the relationship, when the two lovers watched "El Último Vals" (The Last Waltz) together. As time went by, they faced their fair share of challenges, from doubts to the closing of the Chanel club and other bars they frequented. They took to drugs and gambling to feel anything and everything they wanted to. However, whenever they hear the old succession of notes that accompanied "El Último Vals," it brings back memories of their past with feelings of nostalgia and regret. Even though they have come a long way, they cannot help but feel like they were heros for a day, always betting on the wrong side, and while they continue to move forward, the music reminds them of the past that they still carry with them.

The second verse of the song paints a picture of a dark time in the relationship. The two lovers witnessed the beginning of the third world war in the singer's stomach, which seems like a metaphor for an unwanted pregnancy, perhaps. They watched "El Último Vals" together once again. The relationship becomes more challenging as they continue to deceive each other; the singer implies that they continue to lie to each other about their feelings and intentions. Later on, they part ways, but there is still some unresolved tension between them. They finally meet each other again in a videoclub, where the singer is renting a movie by Scorsese. Like before, he is uncertain if it is his once-lover, or just a memory of her he can't forget. In the end, the song suggests that the singer is forced to come to terms with the fact that he is left with only memories, and not a person he can share his life with.
