This Town
Paisley Lyrics

Come on, throw a punch at me
I'll get back on my feet
You can't bring me down
'Cause it's Friday night and I'm out of town
But every night's the same
Oh no nothing has changed
Just gettin' drunk and high
Oh what a way to make the time go by

This town's too small for me
There's so much more for us to see
Another place, another face
Another sweet girl's heart to break

This town's too small for me
There's so much more for us to see
Another dance, another chance
Another midnight screen romance

But yeah another night drinking
Has gotten thinkin'
Is it too early to leave or too late to find some company?
Quit talkin' to me
I don't care what you're gonna be
Yeah you might be a nice guy
But you stink of booze, you got piss on your shoes man

This town's too small for me
There's so much more for us to see
Another place, another face
Another sweet girl's heart to break

This town's too small for me
There's so much more for us to see
Another dance, another chance
Another midnight screen romance

Familiar faces seem so strange today
Familiar faces can be so strange when you see them every day
Familiar faces can be so strange

Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town

Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out of this town
Gotta get out, get out, get out

Get out

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Brad Paisley's song "This Town" describe the frustration and boredom of living in a small town. The singer is clearly disillusioned with his current situation and is looking for something new and exciting. Despite his attempts to have a good time, the night always ends up the same way - drinking and getting high. The verse in which he conveys his disdain for the people he's surrounded by is particularly poignant. He's clearly looking for a change and is desperate to get out of the small town he's been trapped in for too long.

The chorus of the song repeats the singer's desire to leave and start anew. He's sick of the people, the places, and the lack of excitement that his current location affords him. The verses describe the singer's attempts to find something new and different, but it's clear that he's not finding what he's looking for in his hometown.

Overall, "This Town" is a song about the desire to break free from the constraints of a small town and find something more fulfilling elsewhere. It's a relatable sentiment for many people who feel stuck in their current situation and are dreaming of a new adventure.

I was watching the Glasgow video and thinking, i wonder if there's a Paisley video. This was great, thank you from a Paisley boy.

Paisley is the only place that has gone back in time

@bmclaughlin01

You mean all of Scotland.

@RangersOldBoy

Loved this. Was hoping for some Ferguslie Mills pics, but still loved the old shots. Things looked better back in the day.

@Teenibash1969

It is certainly better then than it is now. A shadow of its former self. A fantastic town ruined by bad council decisions, drugs, gangsters and neds. Boarded up and substandard shops. If Thomas Coates came back now, he would be horrified.

@EASYTIGER10

It's a little known fact that Gerard Butler's first job was as station announcer at Paisley Gilmour Street Station. Every time a train arrived, he glared at the passengers getting off and shouted "THIS. IS. PAISLEY!!!"

Some nice old buildings in Paisley. Never been there but I have sewn Paisley fabrics :)
