The title itself seems to be a mixed-up reference to the cabin where the band wrote Cricket and Clover, a scrapped record that was meant to be the group’s sophomore album. While “From a Cabin in the Middle of the Mountains” paints a realistic picture, reversing “mountains” and “cabins” makes little sense, unless there’s somehow a circle of cabins around a mountain.
Jon Walker, Panic!’s then-bassist, explained to MTV:
“It’s kinda like an outro to the whole theme of the record, um, but it isn’t the last song… so in my eyes, it kinda feels like an ending, a winding down.“
In another track-by-track explanation, Brendon Urie stated:
“It’s like that cartoon of Mickey and Minnie from like, the 30’s or 40’s, where they’re walking on the beach with the umbrella in between the fountains and stuff, and he’s like, feeding her chocolate cherries… Oh, and then they die at the end of the cartoon. That’s what this song is.“

I've been a fan since 2005 and seeing this is sad. I miss the good old days and I wish it was like that again. I love Brendon and Ryan with all my heart and respect their wishes but it would make me so happy to see Ryan and Brendon collaborate on a song together again. I regret being too poor to see them in concert when I was younger and I still am but I went for the first time on 03/07/17 as a gift from my Mom before she died of breast cancer. It is my biggest dream to meet Ryan Ross and Brendon Urie someday so I can tell them " I've been a fan since the beginning, your music literally saved my life and you're my hero."
