(1) Parable is a pseudonym of the young Belgian artist Julien Hauspie. He is a guitarist/music composer/producer born in Kortrijk, Belgium. Julien picked up the guitar at the age of 16 and played in several progressive-metal bands before leaving to pursue film composing. He aims to create sonically challenging soundscapes using a mix of guitars, synthesizers and orchestra. Also releases more electronic-oriented music under the name of "Parable".
(2) The music band Parable was comprised of Chuck Butler (lead vocals & guitar), Pat Patton (wind synthesizer), Joy Strange-Hutton (lead vocals) Don Kobayshi (drums), Lisa Wickham (lead vocals), John Wickham (lead guitar), Gary Arthur (bass guitar), and Alan DiCato (keyboards). James Gabriel played keyboards for the group in 1975-77. The group released two albums: More Than Words (1975) and Illustrations (1977). Joy Strange-Hutton shared lead vocal duties with Chuck Butler on More Than Words. Joy was replaced by Lisa Wickham for Illustrations.
The group began using the name Parable in 1974 when the band - a trio at the time, consisting of Chuck Butler, Pat Patton & Joy Strange - were first introduced that way. Several names had been considered, but from that night on the group was known as Parable. Soon after that Don Kobayashi joined the group and they released More Than Words. After touring and a few personnel changes, the band released Illustrations.
In the years that followed, the group has performed many reunion concerts. Chuck Butler is the father of Chad Butler from Switchfoot. John and Lisa Wickham are the parents of Phil Wickham and Evan Wickham, both of whom are solo artists.
