What Breaks My Heart

I never come here anymore
You have a life, you have to live it
And I can't blame you at all
It's not the way I saw you kiss him
Before you got out of the car
But I could tell you really love him
I wonder, maybe if I walk these streets again
Maybe I could find it
Looking for a train I didn't miss
Maybe I could ride it out
'Til the sun, in the morning
I'll be fine, in the morning
Sleep it off, 'til the morning comes
It's strange to be here in the same room
To breathe the same air that you are
But now I'm stuck here on an island
Where I can't even see the stars
But I still see, just how perfect we can be, yeah
And that's what breaks my heart
I wonder, maybe if I walk these streets again
Maybe I could find it
Looking for a train I didn't miss
Maybe I could ride it out
'Til the sun, in the morning
I'll be fine, in the morning
Sleep it off, 'til the morning comes
Oh, I know you couldn't believe
You were leaving when you noticed
And you were kind, to say hello
But there's a truth I came to terms with,
As you walked out of the door
See, there's a chance in never knowing
There's a hope in holding on
To finally know you'll never love me
If I'm honest
That's what breaks my heart
That's what breaks my heart
That's what breaks my heart
The song "What Breaks My Heart" by Parachute is a bittersweet reflection on lost love and the painful realization that someone you once cared for deeply has moved on without you. The opening lines express the singer's sense of detachment and resignation towards his former lover. He acknowledges that she has a life to live and cannot be faulted for not seeing him any longer. However, as the song develops, the singer confesses to feeling hurt by seeing his ex-girlfriend with someone else. He recognizes the depth of her newfound love, and despite his efforts to move on and forget her, he cannot help but feel sad and heartbroken.
The chorus contains a powerful expression of the singer's yearning to find a way to cope with his emotions. He considers walking the streets again, looking for a missed train that might take him away from his pain. He hopes that by sleeping it off until the morning comes, he will finally feel better. The final verse contains some of the most poignant and touching lines of the song. The singer accepts that he will never be loved in the way he desires, but he also understands the importance of holding onto hope despite that reality. He acknowledges that not knowing is sometimes the best way to deal with painful situations, and holding onto the idea that someday things might change is what ultimately keeps him going.
Overall, "What Breaks My Heart" is a poignant and introspective song that beautifully captures the pain, sadness, and hope that comes with lost love. It is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there is always the possibility for light and that it is often the things we don't know that keep us moving forward.
