A sequel of sorts was released in 1999, starring a different main character, Um Jammer Lammy. PaRappa was featured as a playable bonus character. The game was not as successful as the original.
In 2002, Parappa the Rapper 2 for Playstation 2 was released, but it failed to acquire the same level of success as the first installment.
A reworked version of the original PaRappa The Rapper is available for the handheld Playstation Portable in Japan. It retains the songs and the look from the original, but also provides fans with remixed and reworked versions of the songs via a download service.
