Bombs Away
Paris Texas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

i've got a static aesthetic nihalistic prophetic everthing is a god damn lie
i want to go grab a shovel so i can dig up the devil
So I can ask him why, So I can ask him why

And I think I think and therefore I am
Hey man don't you understand
That I've got the power to ruin revolutions
What would you say
If I said bombs away that you're not, not so notorious

I'm standing up on a mountain with telescopes i'm just watching Everybody just try try try
I'm gonna reach way up high so I can pull down the sky
So I can ask him why, So I can ask him why

And I think I think and therefore I am
Hey man don't you understand
That I've got the power to ruin revolutions
What would you say
If I say bombs away

I know if I start with the finger and move to the fist
You're the first person I'll cross off my list you'll never be missed

I say bombs away
What what would you say
I say bombs away

I've got a static aesthetic nihalistic prophetic everthing is a god damn lie
I want to go grab a shovel so i can dig up the devil
So I can ask him why, So I can ask him why

And you're not, not so notorious

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Paris Texas's song "Bombs Away" reveal a disillusioned and nihilistic perspective towards the world. The image of digging up the devil with a shovel is symbolic of the desire to confront evil and understand the reason behind it. The repeated lines "So I can ask him why" emphasize the singer's desire for answers, for a purpose or meaning to the chaos and lies that they see around them. The lines "I think, therefore I am" allude to Descartes' philosophical concept of cogito ergo sum - I think, therefore I exist - suggesting that the singer may be questioning their own existence and purpose.

The chorus, "What would you say if I said bombs away," has a confrontational and provocative tone, challenging the listener's convictions and values. The repeated use of "not so notorious" suggests that the singer sees themselves as an outsider, someone who does not fit in with mainstream society. The final lines "I say bombs away, what would you say" leaves the listener with a question - what would they say in response to such a statement? It could be interpreted as a call to action, to stand up against the status quo, or a warning of the destructive consequences of radicalism.

This song is top of the line. This band was incredible. They broke up sometime in 2005 to the best of my knowledge. It's such a shame really. This music is an incredible blend of rock and pop. Everyone can like this sound. If anyone doesn't have this cd it is highly recommended.

This song is the epitome of how hard it is to “make it” as an artist...it’s a FUCKING JAM and barely had any recognition besides those of us that randomly heard it in the early 2000s and are still coming here to listen. Should have been a huge hit.

It's 5am... I almost gave up trying to find this because I heard it off a video on old google videos which was deleted years ago. One word at a time.. "mountain" which lead to "rocket" which lead to "bomb" and then HALLELUJAH! oh wait.. everything but Paris, Texas... and then the word Paris hit me... Urekah!!! fuck.. I'm so happy! hahaha.. I can rest easy now lol!

I searched word for word "bombs away rock" and this video was close to 20 options down. I'm really disappointed.
