Sittin' court side (court side), to the game she play (play)
I'm chillin' most times, but I blame the DJ
She the dark-skin chick (ayy) with a light-skin crew
Her pretty face and 'em high heel shoes
Got love for them niggas, we got love for you too, I know
See my car's out there, and your girls inside ('side)
Find my niggas if they tryna leave too
Either way
Why you lettin' them think for you
When you're a grown ass woman?
Baby, you're a grown ass woman
Why you lettin' them think for you (you trippin')
When you a grown ass woman?
Baby, you a grown ass woman
Why they doin' the thinkin' for you? (You gotta tell me somethin')
No (gotta tell me somethin')
Why they doin' the thinkin' for you?
(Tell me, baby)
She wants drop tops, hair blowin' in the wind
Must be the liquor 'cause it's place she never been
"Oh, and pour it up," she said (yeah, pour it up)
"Oh, and pour it up," she said (that's why I pour it up)
She tryna leave with me, tryna leave with her
But she with her friends
Yeah, handful of girls, goddamn
Homie, she fly
I'm blowin' grams, I'm tree high
She fly like G-5
I see your friends tryna tell you
How you need to stay back (stay back), oh yeah-yeah-yeah
Oh, you see the player got a plan
And you know you need that (you know the plan)
And either way
Why you lettin' them think for you
When you're a grown ass woman?
Baby, you're a grown ass woman
Why you lettin' them think for you
When you a grown ass woman?
Baby, you a grown ass woman
Why they doin' the thinkin' for you? (Yeah)
No, no, no
Baby, no, no, no (yeah-yeah)
Yeah, yeah, baby
Yeah, I know you know
All my niggas in the V.I.'
Still bumpin' to Aaliyah, baby
And you rockin' with a G now, baby
Baby no games at all, no
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, without you
Oh, without you
Oh, without you
Oh, without you
Oh, without yo
Woah, ooh-ooh
Baby no games at all, no
In PARTYNEXTDOOR’s song Grown Woman, the lyrics describe a confident and independent woman who is not afraid to have a good time at the basketball game with her friends. The singer is attracted to her and tries to convince her to leave with him, but her friends are hesitant to let her go. The chorus repeats the phrase “Why you letting them think for you when you're a grown ass woman?” emphasizing the idea that she should make her own decisions.
The first verse introduces the woman and her friends, who are all stylishly dressed and enjoying the game. The singer is drawn to her and her confidence, but his advances are rebuffed by her friends. The second verse describes the woman’s desire for adventure, represented by her request for open-top cars and more alcohol. Her friends continue to try to protect her, but the singer insists that she is a grown woman who can make her own choices.
The chorus is the main focus of the song, with the repetition of the phrase “grown ass woman” reinforcing the idea that women should be empowered and able to make their own decisions. The second half of the song includes additional references to the rapper’s lifestyle and music, but ultimately the message remains the same: women should be confident and independent.
Overall, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Grown Woman is a celebration of women’s autonomy and the importance of making one’s own choices. The lyrics urge women to resist the pressures of society and the opinions of their peers, and to embrace their own agency in shaping their lives.
