2007–2014: Career beginnings and debut album
Having made electronic-infused R&B under his real name Jahron Brathwaite [Jahron B], he signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell as a songwriter, under the name PartyNextDoor, at age 18.[7][failed verification] His first mixtape, PartyNextDoor, was released to the iTunes Store on July 1, 2013.[8] It entered on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart at number six with sales of 2,000 copies[9] and peaked at number 34 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for the week of July 20, 2013.[10] He performed background vocals on "Own It" and "Come Thru" from Drake's third studio album, Nothing Was the Same.[11]
His debut studio album PartyNextDoor Two was released on July 30, 2014. The record featured singles like "Thirsty", "FWU", "East Liberty" and the Billboard charted "Recognize", featuring Drake. Later that year, on December 3, 2014, PartyNextDoor released the four-track EP titled PNDColours, with the follow-up COLOURS 2, released in 2017.[12] In 2015, he produced three songs on Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late: "Legend", "Preach" and "Wednesday Night Interlude".[7]

He also penned the song "Sex with Me" on the same album.[2] On March 25, 2016, PartyNextDoor released "Come and See Me", which features fellow artist Drake, from his upcoming second studio album, PartyNextDoor 3 (also known as P3). Come and tell me something, say something (yeah)
Is it something or nothing, yeah
You going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth
I don't know what you want, yeah (no more)
I know you're used to him
But you really want something real
Keep up with you, yeah, yeah
Put a range out, it's your pain now
Dealing with fame now
'Cause you're sweet like sugar-sugar cane now
Bitch, that bitch, that bitch, she poppin'
How many times did I get you wet
The night I pulled up to the dock, yeah
And dive in
Had to pull you to the side and tell your friends to chime in
You said you was joking
But I could tell you want my baby (baby)
Yeah, yeah, girl, I'm older than you
You cannot play me, you a baby
I'm not fooled by the money that you got (got)
You're still Jenny from the mothafuckin' block (block)
Baby, yeah, yeah, you got money, I got money too
Just let me know what you wanna do
Hey there, lady
Come and tell me something, say something (yeah)
Is it something or nothing, yeah
You going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth
I don't know what you want, yeah
Nike, Nike, I'm done checkin' on you
Three stripes I got two up on you
Girl, you know what I wanna do
I wanna rendez-rendezvous, I got too much to lose
You might disagree, that's your point of view
I ain't tryna find love, I'm tryna find the truth
I ain't tryna do nothin' but have fun with you
Secret, I'ma keep it, all day, all day
Slow jams, you look so real, SAEE shawty
Oh, but I could tell you want my baby (baby)
Yeah, yeah, girl I'm older than you
You cannot play me, you a baby
I'm not fooled by the money that you got (got)
You're still Jenny from the mothafuckin' block (block)
Baby, yeah, yeah, you got money, I got money too
Just let me know what you wanna do
Hey there, lady
Come and tell me something, say something (yeah)
Is it something or nothing, yeah
You going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth
I don't know what you want, yeah
The song "Rendezvous" by PARTYNEXTDOOR is essentially about a man trying to figure out what a woman wants from him. He asks her to tell him something or say something, but she keeps going back and forth, leaving him unsure of what exactly she wants from him. He acknowledges that she is used to a certain kind of man, but he wants to be someone who can keep up with her and provide something real.
The use of the phrase "back and forth" throughout the song is significant as it conveys a sense of indecisiveness, a lack of clarity. Despite this confusion, the singer knows he wants to have a good time with this woman and have a rendezvous with her. However, he wants her to be more upfront and honest with him about her intentions and desires.
The lyrics themselves are relatively straightforward, but the emotion behind them is what makes them compelling. The singer is expressing his feelings of confusion, uncertainty, and desire, and the lyrics capture this sense of being in-between two different emotional states.
