Passage 4 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Skin of moonshine, heart of fire.
Something keeps her head in wonders.
She runs alone in rain and thunder.
But someday she will win the strife inside.
And someday she will walk on golden flower fields again.
Dreams of sunshine, dreams of freedom.
Cries out all her tears in sorrow.
Earth will always have a shadow.
It keeps her holding on to the darkside of her dawn.
Eternal integrity has always been the key.
In Passage 4's song Human Doll, the lyrics present a complex and mysterious persona, described using a mix of contrasting elements. The first verse describes her physical appearance, with "eyes of diamond" and "hair of winter," both gem-like and cold, and "skin of moonshine" and "heart of fire," again with contrasting meanings. This character seems to be fascinated with the world around her; she's curious and playful, as indicated by "something keeps her head in wonders" and "she runs alone in rain and thunder." However, the second verse paints a different picture, with the character's mind preoccupied with "sights of terror" and only able to dream of "sunshine" and "freedom." She's deeply sad, "cries out her tears", and "Earth will always have a shadow", suggesting that she feels like there is some darkness that cannot be escaped.
Despite the character's sorrow, the lyrics offer hope that "someday she will win the strife inside" and "walk on golden flower fields again." The repeated line "eternal integrity has always been the key" suggests that the song is about the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the midst of darkness and difficulty.
Overall, the lyrics of Human Doll present a complex and intriguing character, who is both playful and curious, yet deeply sad and preoccupied with thoughts of terror and darkness. The song offers a message of hope, encouraging listeners to stay true to themselves and to keep fighting their inner battles.

Awesome music video :-) Almost like a video from a 90's Emo Indie Rock band. This is probably my favorite Passage 4 song together with "Was it meant to be?". Thanks a lot for the upload!

We (friends/fans from Arboga and band members) had a discussion over at Facebook a year ago or so, when the bass player Carla said he had the 2 videos on VHS tape somewhere, but no way to get it over to the Computer, so I offered to do just that. Well, 2 days ago he contacted me and said he finally had found the tape, so I went and picked it up at his Tattoo Studio here in town(Arboga). :) I also did a Casette Tape -> MP3 conversion of the Baggy Sucks demo a while back, if you're interested.
