She was born in the neighborhood of Greenpoint in Brooklyn, New York City, New York on January 10, 1953 as Patricia Andrzejewski. She graduated from Lindenhurst High on Long Island in 1971. She married her lead guitarist, Neil "Spyder" Geraldo, in 1982, and she has two children, named Haley and Hana.
In 1973, Benatar quit her job as a bank teller to pursue a singing career after being inspired by a Liza Minnelli concert she saw in Richmond. She got a job as a singing waitress at a flapper-esque nightclub named "The Roaring Twenties", and got a gig singing in lounge band Coxon's Army. They garnered enough attention to be the subject of a never-aired PBS special, and the band's bassist, Roger Capps, would go on to be the original bass player for the Pat Benatar band.
This period also yielded Benatar's first solo single – 1974's "Day Gig" – until her eventual major label debut on Chrysalis Records in 1979. The song was released via Trace Records, and was both written and produced by Coxon's Army band leader Phil Coxon.
Benatar's big break came in 1975 at an amateur night at the comedy club "Catch a Rising Star" in New York City. Her rousing rendition of Judy Garland's "Rock-a-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody" earned her a call back by club owner Rick Newman, who would later become her manager.
After many years of producing big budget albums, Neil and Pat have continued to produce albums together, even though they have decided to end their association with major labels. They have chosen instead to place the care of their children above industry demands, and make records at home in their own professional quality studio. Each summer when their girls get out of school for vacation, they all pack up, board a tour bus, and set out to play as many shows as they can fit into the summer months. Pat and Neil maintain a close, and much more personal, relationship with their fans, than they were able to do in 80's during the heights of their commercial success.

True Hearts
Pat Benatar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the truth before your eyes
I step out to an evening sky
Flipped on its back and left here to die
A thousand deaths before the sunlight freed me
They passed into the world, they′re free
Where nothing's ever what it seems
(People living wall to wall)
Reach out for the hands of love
(Back inside, they′re on their knees)
Hold out if you can't break free
(Time passed by, may come today)
Reach out for the hands of love
When true hearts find a way
Yeah, to the end of time
From the cradle to the grave we go
Lookin' back, even though
Sometimes it seems there′s nothing left to cling to
Come back when this isn′t cold
But a young girl's heart is hard to hold onto
In a world that′s cold and lined with silver
(People living wall to wall)
Reach out for the hands of love
(Back inside, they're on their knees)
Hold on tight if you can′t break free
(Time passed by, may come today)
Reach out for the hands of love
When true hearts
Right on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
When true hearts found a way
Ride on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
Ride to the end of time
Reach out for the hands of love
Hold on tight if you can't break free
You know you gotta be free when
True hearts found a way
Ride on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
When true hearts found a way
Ride on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
When true hearts found a way
Ride on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
When true hearts found a way
Ride on to the end of time
When true hearts found a way
The lyrics to "True Hearts" by Pat Benatar delve into the concept of true love and the struggles that often come along with it. In the opening lines, the singer questions what there is left to see except for the truth that is right in front of their eyes. This could represent the idea that once you have found true love, everything else is secondary and irrelevant.
The following lines describe the singer stepping out into an evening sky that seems lifeless and drained of all emotion. They have experienced many hardships before finally being freed by the light of day. The world is described as being filled with deceit and hidden meanings, making it impossible to judge what is real and what is not. The line "judgement stopped and stone aligned with silver" could be interpreted as meaning that even the most solid and reliable things can eventually become corrupted and move away from their true nature.
The chorus repeats the idea of reaching out for the hands of love and clinging onto it tightly. The line "hold on tight if you can't break free" could represent the idea that love can sometimes feel suffocating and restrictive, yet it is still worth hanging onto. The repeated refrain of "when true hearts found a way" reinforces the idea that true love will always find a way to overcome whatever obstacles may come their way.
