Pat Metheny Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Lulaj ulubione me Pieścidełko
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Zamknijże znużone płaczem powieczki
Utulże zemdlone łkaniem usteczki
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
Lulajże, piękniuchny nasz Aniołeczku
Lulajże wdzięczniuchny świata Kwiateczku
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Lulajże, Różyczko najozdobniejsza
Lulajże, Lilijko najprzyjemniejsza
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Dam ja Jezusowi słodkich jagódek
Pójdę z nim w Matuli serca ogródek
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Dam ja Jezusowi z chlebem masełeka
Włożę ja kukiełkę w jego jasełka
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Dam ja Ci słodkiego, Jezu, cukierka
Rodzynków, migdałów z mego pudełka
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Cyt, cyt, cyt niech zaśnie małe Dzieciątko
Oto już zasnęlo niby kurczątko
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
Cyt, cyt, cyt wszyscy się spać zabierajcie
Mojego Dzieciątka nie przebudzajcie
Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj
A ty go matulu w płaczu utulaj
"Lulajże Jezuniu" is a traditional Polish lullaby that speaks to the tenderness and care of a mother soothing her child to sleep. The lyrics convey a sense of maternal love and protection as the mother addresses the baby Jesus, referring to him as a precious pearl and her beloved little darling. The repeated phrase "Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj" emphasizes the act of lulling the infant to sleep while also seeking comfort and solace for both the child and the mother.
The song continues to describe the mother's actions of gently closing the child's tired eyes, calming their whimpering mouth, and acknowledging the beauty and grace of the infant Jesus. The imagery of delicate flowers and endearing terms like "Aniołeczku" (little angel) and "Kwiateczku" (little flower) evoke a sense of innocence and purity, highlighting the sacredness of the moment shared between mother and child.
As the lullaby progresses, the mother promises offerings to Jesus, such as sweet berries, bread and butter, and treats like raisins and almonds from her own box. These gestures symbolize the mother's willingness to share her provisions and her heart with the divine child, creating a nurturing and intimate connection between them.
The closing verses gently urge the child to sleep, comparing the slumbering infant to a nestling chick and bidding everyone to quiet down and not disturb the sleeping baby. The repeated refrain of "Lulajże Jezuniu, lulaj, że lulaj" carries a soothing and hypnotic quality, inviting both the child and the listeners to rest peacefully in the embrace of the lullaby's comforting words and melodies. Overall, "Lulajże Jezuniu" is a heartfelt invocation of love, protection, and tranquility, capturing the timeless essence of a mother's devotion to her child and the sacred bond between parent and offspring.
