Because Of Who You Are
Paul D. Allen Lyrics

It's been a while since you've seen me
It's been a while since we were happy as can be
It's been a while since I wished upon a shooting star
It's been a while since we were close rather than far apart
It's been a while since I said your name out loud
And I'm not gonna start again now
Cause you know who you are
That shooting star went and fell from the skies
And I'm not gonna think twice
Because you know who you are
You know who you are
Clouds fade away just as fast as they block out the Sun
I know it's strange, people change, but honey that's everyone
Inspiration, condensation, and a little bit of heartbreak will do
It's been a while since we talked, but the license is still right there to renew
Just so you know who you are
You know who you are
That shooting star didn't have far to fall
No, it didn't take long at all
It fell apart
We fell apart
Fell apart, dimmed the spark, and return to sender
Breakups and makeups and too much of "Love Me Tender"
Woah
Down from the sky
Now I see why
It's so hard to see you
That shooting star was the Sun
And it fell and left the world all dark and cold
The prescription has expired and the light and the love
Now they've both grown old
Cause we thought we knew
Knew who we were
We knew who we were
That door wasn't slammed, it was burned to floor
But now I'm not sure anymore
Cause you know who you are
You know who you are
Even a blind man could see what we've turned out to be
But I guess it doesn't matter anymore
Cause you know who you are
You know who you are
The lyrics of Paul D. Allen's song "Because Of Who You Are" convey a sense of longing and reflection on a past relationship. The singer acknowledges that it has been a while since they last saw each other and since they were truly happy together. The mention of wishing upon a shooting star suggests a lost sense of hope or wishing for something that has since fizzled out.
The line "You know who you are" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of the individual's identity and reminding them that they are aware of who they are. This could imply that the singer still holds some resentment or is hesitant to reconnect with this person. The shooting star falling from the sky could represent the downfall or deterioration of their relationship.
The lyrics also touch on the transient nature of relationships and how people change over time. The reference to clouds fading away and the sun being blocked out suggests that obstacles or difficulties have clouded the once-bright connection between the singer and the subject of the song. The singer recognizes that both inspiration and heartbreak have played a role in shaping their relationship.
As the song progresses, it becomes evident that the relationship has fallen apart. The spark that once existed has dimmed, and the singer mentions breakups, makeups, and the struggles of love. The shooting star, which was originally seen as a symbol of hope, is now described as the cause of darkness and coldness in the world. The prescription that once provided light and love has expired, suggesting that the relationship has lost its vitality.
Towards the end of the song, the singer expresses uncertainty about their current state. The door symbolizes the relationship, and the line "it was burned to floor" suggests that it has been irreparably damaged. The phrase "Even a blind man could see what we've turned out to be" hints at the awareness of how they have both changed and what the relationship has become. Ultimately, the singer conveys a sense of resignation, implying that it doesn't matter anymore because the subject of the song already knows who they are.

What a special moment!
I definitely agree that this play really sparked the whole team.
Adrian Peterson chose to have his worst year when Brett Favre was here. So many 1 yard gains or runs for losses and ALOT of fumbles.
AP has his best seasons in the most meaningless years.
If only Moss would have come to us in 2009 instead of the next year......
Brett Favre is the toughest player of all time

Paul Allen just gives me goosebumps with how much he truly cares about and loves the Vikings. I'm so proud to have him announce stuff like this
@SC2020SC
My favorite call of his is when the Vikings lost to the Saints in the NFC Championship game when Favre threw the interception to Tracy Porter. #WhoDat

+Scott C you won because you were trying to hurt the players. You couldn't beat us straight up so you had to hurt us. Makes sense since you were the weaker team
