Castaway
Paul Van Dyk Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes they raise you feelin' far too fine
Bound to be, bound to be my dregs
If only up to me, I'd rush it out to see
Bound to take us out

Sometimes they raise you feelin' far too fine
Bound to be, bound to be my dregs
If only up to me, I'd rush it out to see
Bound to take us out

Castaway, we waste all day
Failed to figure out what is hailed to be ours
Right on some days, falls to the wayside
The way, oh way, oh way

Got the plans to figure out
Plans to figure out

Sometimes erase you, pillow thrown to flame
Bound to be, bound to be my haste
Fold it up to me and rush it [Incomprehensible]
Vow to take us

Castaway, we waste all day
Failed to figure out what is hailed to be ours
Right on some days, falls to the wayside
The way, oh way, oh way

Castaway, we waste all day
Failed to figure out what is hailed to be ours
Right on some days, falls to the wayside
The way, oh way, oh way

Got the plans to figure out
Plans to figure out

Overall Meaning

"Castaway" by Paul Van Dyk is a song that speaks to the feeling of being lost and wasting time. The opening lines, "Sometimes they raise you feeling far too fine, bound to be, bound to be my dregs," suggest that something might feel good in the moment but ultimately lead to negative consequences. The lyrics continue, "If only up to me, I'd rush it out to see, bound to take us out," which can be interpreted as a desire to seize the moment, even if it leads to negative outcomes.

The chorus of the song, "Castaway, we waste all day, failed to figure out what is hailed to be ours," reinforces the feeling of being lost and unsure of one's purpose or direction. The repetition of the line "plans to figure out" at the end of the song suggests an ongoing struggle to find meaning and purpose in life.

Overall, the lyrics of "Castaway" convey a sense of ambiguity and uncertainty, underscored by its electronic sound and pulsing beat.
