Wall's first music industry exposure came as a street team member on the Northwest side of Houston, promoting southern artists such as T.I. and labels like Cash Money and The New No Limit. He is also an accomplished and proficient mixtape and party DJ, known for producing mixtapes in the now-well-known screwed & chopped style, which was invented by the late DJ Screw. While he has recently stated on record that South LE. (in Houston's southside) is his base of operations, it is not the neighborhood that Paul Wall is actually from. Paul Wall has claimed several such neighborhoods over his career, starting with De Soto in Acres Homes (his original home neighborhood), then switching to Gulf Bank (also in Acres Homes).
Paul Wall, Chamillionaire and Jon Higgins were originally affiliated with Swishahouse Records, but left for Paid in Full Records a short time later. After several mixtape and independent releases, including the critically acclaimed 'Get Ya Mind Correct', the two parted ways on bad terms. Chamillionaire continued to release independent records, while Paul Wall returned to the Swishahouse fold. This move allowed him to appear on Mike Jones' first commercially distributed single, "Still Tippin'", from his first major label album 'Who Is Mike Jones?'.
His major label debut, 'The People's Champ', has produced a lead single, "Sittin' Sidewayz", which is receiving national radio and television play. In August, 2005, rumors began to circulate that Paul Wall and Chamillionaire had settled any differences that remained between them, and are again on good terms with one another. Paul Wall also appeared with GLC on the song "Drive Slow" on Kanye West's second solo album, 'Late Registration'.
Paul Wall is the owner and proprietor of TV Jewelry in Houston. The store specializes in the production of grills, silver, gold, or platinum caps and diamond inlays (usually princess-cut diamonds). Grills have become a growing trend in rap culture and have even influenced its own song. "Grillz", by Nelly featuring Paul Wall along with other artists, where at one point Paul raps "Call me George Foreman 'cause I'm sellin' everybody grillz.)

Ayy, what it do?
Paul Wall, baby
Hold up Statik, let me take a stab at it
Name added on the list
City on the atlas
Cut the bullshit
Lotta paper drop the acid
No biohazard
Maybe two-tone or maybe my note chromatic
Iced the Patek
Cold world wear a jack
Roll the backwood and pack it
If you tryna match it
Make it massive
Hit the blunt
I attack it
Inhaling have you choking like you asthmatic
Throwing knowledge down
I just hope and pray you catch it
Intellect multi-facet
Close the bracket
But close mind frame lead you to a closed casket
Crack a book open
Digest and unpack it
Achieve whatever you imagine
As long as you task it
Success starts with small habits
Karats in my mouth like a rabbit
Diamonds bag it
Out here chasing after cabbage
Quest for that packet
But it's heavy traffic
Gotta fill my sack
Matter fact, double bag it
Tool, I gotta pack it, life can be tragic
Tap the blunt after I dunk it
Yeah, I Shaq it
Like Keith coats
Something extra, yeah I waxed it
Boy, it's fantastic
Psilocybin magic
I just want the rings and title with no asterisk
Uh, whole trunk full of bricks
Full of mad shit
Whole trunk full of blades, full of ratchets
Pull up to the projects trunk pop
I got merch, I got drugs, I got what you want
Every couple hundred fans, it's another opp
They got blood upon they hands so it's fuck cops
Everybody put they money in this one pot
Everybody getting money on this one block
You know me? I put fire work in the hood
Now it's poppin' baby, fireworks in the hood
Red shirt like I'm Suge
Putting work in the hood
Lil' cutie on my lap and she twerking good
You see them lips, you see dem hips
You see the whip
Now you get it why I be on some conceited shit
Could had you boys shot
Gang leader, bitch
But it's only small moves under my leadership
Uh, ain't no crash dummies we just stack money
Fucked a couple hundred bitches off of rap money
Beast mode like a running back
I'm running laps around these MCs
I bet you a hundred racks
They couldn't out spit or fuck with the outfit
I'm in my house dip down baby peep the drip
Henny and perc yeah that's a sweet mix
And Statik on the boards bet you that's a sweet mix
Uh, bring Big, 'Pac and Pun back
We need the remix
