Wonderful version, and I believe the violinist to be Joe Venuti....thanks for the post !! 👍🏼🤗

John

It is Kurt Dieterle. Not Venuti.

This is an absolute classic!! Bing Crosby's voice on this recording is just perfect! Thank you for uploading this gem from the '20's!!

Luis Mántaras

Thanks for this wonderful, unforgettable version! Everything is well balanced here, as in a classic cause it is from beginning to end!

I feel a pitty that this masterpiece as far as I know hasn't been restored although this 78 rpt sounds quite good!

love the violin here. Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks (from boardwalk empire) do this version perfectly. The violinist wraps the the bow around the neck so it is possible to play 4 string chords (there's probably a technical term for this) and that's how he recreates that distinct violin sound in the beginning.

John

@Steven Heywood It is called a "Four String Joe." Named for Venuti but he wasn't the only one doing it in the 20s.

plasticfloor is the term .. syncopation ?

I used to have the vinyl album, "Young Bing Crosby," There were a number of tunes with Paul Whiteman and The Rhythm Boys," and this was one of my favorites, and you know, I don't even mind the scratches in the recording...It's like a bit of heaven in my ears..Thank you for the posting...

My favorite record with paul Whiteman and a very, very young Bing Crosby. Thank's a lot for uploading!
