DeAnda was born in San Angelo, Texas, to Mexican American parents Steven and Barbara, a restaurant general manager and a registered nurse, respectively. At age six she began taking piano lessons and was soon singing at functions around town at the recommendation of her piano teacher.[5] She also sang the national anthem at local football games. In 2002, DeAnda's family decided to move to Corpus Christi in order to help advance her career in music since Corpus Christi had a reputation as a music hub.[6] She attended Mary Carroll High School.
DeAnda was the opening act for a concert which featured hip-hop artists, Nelly, Baby Bash and Frankie J. performing in front of twenty thousand people.[1][6] Her first single, "What Would It Take" was serviced to local radio stations in July, received airplay from ten radio stations across the country. Her next single "Doing Too Much" was released in December. It was then that she got the opportunity to audition for Clive Davis who signed her for a seven-album deal with Arista Records on the spot.
"Doing Too Much" served as the lead single to her self-titled debut album which was released in the summer of 2006, and charted in the Top50 of the Billboard Hot 100. It was later was certified gold in the US in 2007. Paula DeAnda charted at #54 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album mainly consists of songs about love and relationships and is of the pop-R&B genre. DeAnda co-wrote four songs on the album, which features production from Happy Perez among others. She was only 16 years old at the time of the album's released. Her second single "Walk Away (Remember Me)" (written by Christina Milian and Ne-Yo) was her biggest hit, reaching the top twenty on the Hot 100. The single was certified gold by the RIAA, becoming her second single to do so. Follow-up singles from her debut included "When It Was Me" and "Easy" which the latter featured rapper Lil Wayne. She later appeared in the MTV television film Super Sweet 16: The Movie.
In 2008, DeAnda began production on next effort, initially due in 2009. A buzz single "Stunned Out" was released and garnered some airplay, but the set's lead single ended up being the ballad "Roll the Credits", which was released with a music video was planned. Clive Davis left Arista's parent company at the time, RCA Label Group in 2008 to become the chief creative officer for Sony BMG. DeAnda also parted ways Arista following his departure.

Boy in the beginning
The beginning it was me and you
I was Bonnie you were Clyde
And we were running
We were running for an end and we knew
(Roll, roll the credits)
But then in the middle
Took a pencil and erased my happy ending
Instead of loving you I feel so sick
(Roll, roll the credits)
I know you directed it
I'm sure I produced a bit
So why's that chick stealing my show?
Baby tell me, who is she?
I need to know her name and number
Tell me, who does she hang out with when you're not together?
I ain't gonna do nothing crazy
I just need you to hear me
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
And tell me how many of your friends you told all about it
They said you working last Friday night when I was calling
Did you lie to all of them too?
Or was I just a fool?
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
Yeah yeah
You worked undercover
Gave her every single line I owned
And it doesn't make me feel any better
That you took her places we would go
(Roll, roll the credits)
I thought you were meant for me
My name should be on that screen
Tell me, why's that chick playing my role?
Baby tell me, who is she?
I need to know her name and number
Tell me, who does she hang out with when you're not together?
I ain't gonna do nothing crazy
I just need you to hear me
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
And tell me how many of your friends you told all about it?
They said you would get last Friday night when I was calling
Did you lie to all of them too?
Or was I just a fool?
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
I know you directed it
I'm sure I produced a bit
I thought you were meant for me
My name should be on that screen
We weren't even at the end
But you started auditioning
And let somebody star in my show
(Baby)
Tell me, who is she?
I need to know her name and number (I need to know)
Tell me, who does she hang out with (tell me)
When you're not together? (who does she)
I ain't gonna do nothing crazy (aint gonna do nothing so crazy)
I just need you to hear me (I just need you, I just need you to hear me baby)
(Roll, roll the credits)
And tell me how many of your friends you told (tell me)
All about it? (who did you tell)
They said you would get last Friday night when I was calling
Did you lie to all of them too? (all of them too)
Or was I just a fool? (oh a fool)
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
Roll the credits
Roll the credits
(Roll, roll the credits)
Roll the credits
Roll the credits
(Roll, roll the credits)
The lyrics of Paula DeAnda's "Roll The Credits" depict a situation where a relationship that started strong has come to an end due to the guy's infidelity. The song's title is a reference to the end of a movie where the credits roll. In the beginning, the singer and her partner were like Bonnie and Clyde, running towards a common goal. However, in the middle, things took a turn for the worse. The guy changed the script by cheating on the singer with another woman, leaving her feeling sick and betrayed. Despite their shared involvement in the relationship, the singer feels like this other woman is stealing her show, and she wants to know who she is.
The chorus repeatedly urges the guy to roll the credits and end their relationship formally. The singer is hurt and wants to move on, but she also wants to know how many of his friends knew about the infidelity, and whether he told them lies to cover it up. She feels like a fool for trusting him, and she wants to know why someone else is playing her role in their relationship. The song ends with the singer demanding to know the other woman's name and number, indicating that she is ready to confront her if necessary.
Line by Line Meaning
Boy in the beginning
At the start of our relationship
The beginning it was me and you
It was just the two of us at the start
I was Bonnie you were Clyde
We were like the famous outlaw pair Bonnie and Clyde
And we were running
We were chasing after something or someone
We were running for an end and we knew
We were aware of our objective and worked towards it
But then in the middle
Things changed midway through
In the middle you went and changed the script
You altered our plans
Took a pencil and erased my happy ending
Your actions ruined what I thought was going to be a happy outcome
Instead of loving you I feel so sick
I no longer have feelings of love for you, just disgust
I know you directed it
You were in control of what happened
I'm sure I produced a bit
I had some influence on the outcome too
So why's that chick stealing my show?
Why are you giving someone else attention instead of me?
Baby tell me, who is she?
I need to know the other girl's identity
I need to know her name and number
I want her contact info
Tell me, who does she hang out with when you're not together?
I want to know who else is involved in our personal matters
I ain't gonna do nothing crazy
I won't do anything irrational or harmful
I just need you to hear me
I want you to listen to what I have to say
And tell me how many of your friends you told all about it?
I want to know who else knows about our situation
They said you working last Friday night when I was calling
Your friends said you were indisposed when I tried to contact you
Did you lie to all of them too?
Did you mislead other people as well?
Or was I just a fool?
Perhaps I was too trusting or naive
You worked undercover
You were secretly working against me
Gave her every single line I owned
You gave her all of the affection and attention that I deserved
And it doesn't make me feel any better
This knowledge doesn't improve my emotions or wellbeing
That you took her places we would go
You recreated experiences with her that we once shared together
My name should be on that screen
I should be the one getting recognition
We weren't even at the end
We hadn't even reached our goal yet
But you started auditioning
You started looking for other options
And let somebody star in my show
And allowed someone else to have a more significant role in my life
Tell me, who does she hang out with (tell me)
I need to know more about this other girl's social circle
When you're not together? (who does she)
Who does she spend time with when you're absent?
And tell me how many of your friends you told (tell me)
I want to know how many people you've confided in about us
All about it? (who did you tell)
What exactly did you say and who all did you say it to?
Or was I just a fool? (oh a fool)
Maybe I was ignorant or unwise
Roll, roll the credits
End this chapter in our lives
