Bio info:
Following a chance meeting between singer/songwriter Paxton and bassist Randy Jordan, who was playing with ledgendary rockers "The Front", the unlikely pair hit it off and began cutting the kind of twisted power-pop songs that would form the nucleus of their debut CD. Through Jordan, Paxton was introduced to former "Pleasure Bomb" lead guitarist David Matos and rhythm guitarist Rick Kolster. Ex-"Xanax25" drummer Rob Cournoyer was recruited as a permanent member by Jordan and Kolster following several unsuccessful stints by a number of temporary timekeepers.
Excerpted lyrics from the song "A Little Better."
"used to be I wanted you to love me now I wonder why
today if you were splattered in the subway, I don't even think I'd cry"
"yesterday you pissed on me
tomorrow you'll be history
the rest is just a mystery. oh, yeaaaah!"

Got lost in the notion of what we could be
Too blind to see what your lying’s implying
And I can’t keep trying to believe
I cried
When the explosion destroyed all we’d been
The slate’s been washed clean
T'is my final bow
I can’t let you drag me down
I won’t lose my focus now
Get out of, get out of, get out of my head
Burning to the ground
Once lost, but now I’m found
I won’t be your battleground
It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, we’re dead
Is it wrong
To want to feel nothing?
‘Cause I’m not that strong
And it’s been too long
And I’m tired, inspired
And I won’t stop trying to break free
I’ll be gone
Before the sun rises and sky starts to bleed
And you start to plead, screaming why
Please try, this can’t be goodbye
Please don’t leave
And it’s my final bow
I can’t let you drag me down
I won’t lose my focus now
Get out of, get out of, get out of my head
Burning to the ground
Once lost but now I’m found
I won’t be your battleground
It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, we’re dead
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh ooh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh
And it’s my final bow
I can’t let you drag me down (I won't let you drag me down)
I won’t lose my focus now
Get out of, get out of, get out of my head
Burning to the ground
Once lost, but now I’m found (Now I'm found)
I won’t be your battleground
It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, we’re dead
The lyrics to Paxton's song "Battleground" explore the pain, frustration, and eventual liberation that comes from leaving a toxic relationship. In the beginning, the singer reflects on their own blindness in remaining in a situation that was harmful, and how they were willing to ignore the red flags in order to hold onto the possibility of what their partner represented. However, when the relationship explodes and everything falls apart, the singer realizes that they are now free to move on and leave the pain behind.
The lyrics describe an inner turmoil as the singer debates whether or not it is wrong to feel nothing after such a deep loss. They continue to express their weariness and frustration with the situation, but maintain a fierce determination to not let their former partner drag them down anymore. The repetition of the phrase "get out of my head" serves as a powerful affirmation of the singer's decision to let go of the past and move on to a better future. Finally, the song ends on a note of finality, with the singer asserting that the battle is over and there is no going back to what was.
