Anthem
Percival Duke Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I want to sing for the deaf
And play scenes with DeNiro
Who knows, I may blow him away?
Speak Russian with a German man
Fuck Madonna in the Vatican
I just might let her have her own way

I want to sleep with an Afghan woman
Then turn around and have her man
Its my life, I'll do what I can
Spread love where its nor found
Run naked through a small, Maine town
God knows, they really need it up there

An Anthem for the small
The unbreakable and tall
The lost and the found
Or whoever's around
An Anthem for the weak
for the strong and the meek
For the whole Goddamned world
I'm your man; I'm your girl

Coulda gotten the tee on Alex the Great
Heard he had a boyfriend named Jake
But time was just not there for me
I could've written a book in the bible
Or helped the Jews with survival
Hitler was fucking twisted, don't you think?

I coulda helped build the tower of Pisa right
Or helped Stevie see the light
But I guess he did well enough alone
I could've had tea with Mussolini
I would have slipped him a little happy pill
God knows he could have used it, but here's

An Anthem for the small
The unbreakable and tall
The lost and the found
Or whoever's around
An Anthem for the weak
for the strong and the meek
For the whole Goddamned world
I'm your man; I'm your girl

I can't breathe
Society's in my way

Too many lies I see
Were told to the human race

@IscariotsPrayer

I was sitting here listening to the song, reading the lyrics as it played. I keept getting a deja vu feeling and I just couldnt place the reason for it... then it hit me, and dont laugh, it reminded me for some outrageous reason of Tim Curry's singing in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". An please dont think that it's disrespectful or anything... Tim Curry's "I'm Going Home" is a brilliant jewel!
