Where it goes, no one knows!
What's in store, who can guess?
It could be . . . happiness!
If you're in love, an' she loves you too
Oh never break her heart, whatever you may do
Don't say goodbye ( Don't say goodbye! )
Because if you should lose your one an' only
All your life you may be lonely!
Happiness comes ( Happiness comes! )
Happiness goes ( happiness goes! )
Where it goes ( where it goes! )
No one knows! ( no one knows! )
What's in store ( What's in store? )
Who can guess? ( who can guess? )
It could be . . . happiness!
Happiness comes, happiness goes
Where it goes, no one knows!
What's in store ( What's in store? )
Who can guess? ( who can guess? )
It could be . . . happiness!
It could be . . . happiness!
It could be . . . happiness!

The lyrics of Perry Como's song "Happiness Comes Happiness Goes" are about the fleeting nature of happiness, which can come and go without warning. The first verse sets the tone with the lines "Happiness comes, happiness goes / Where it goes, no one knows / What's in store, who can guess / It could be...happiness!" The lyrics suggest that happiness is unpredictable and cannot be controlled, but there is always the possibility that it could be just around the corner.
The second verse is more specific, focusing on the importance of holding onto true love once it is found. The lyrics warn against breaking the heart of someone who loves you, and emphasize the importance of not taking that love for granted. The lines "Don't say goodbye / To a love that's true / Because if you should lose your one and only / All your life you may be lonely" drive home the point that true love is rare and should be cherished.
The repeated chorus drives home the message that happiness is elusive and unpredictable. The lyrics suggest that there is no way to know where happiness will go or what will happen in the future. The song ends with the repeated line "It could be...happiness!" which suggests that the search for happiness is ongoing and never-ending.
Overall, the lyrics of "Happiness Comes Happiness Goes" present a message of hope and caution. The song suggests that while happiness may be unpredictable, it is still worth pursuing, especially if it can be found in true love. However, the lyrics also warn against taking that love for granted, suggesting that it is important to hold onto it once it is found.
