Well depending on the highshcool, they take plagiarism extremely seriously because a lot of their students go to good colleges; and those colleges will actively do much worse if they catch you plagiarizing.

Bro that’s actually just a shitty design. I mean, in grade 7 I did a public speaking context and the topic was something like “what are you most proud of” and my speech was on my journey towards getting a black belt and how it taught me shit. Well my friend who also did martial arts wrote the same idea for his speech since you know, at 7th grade that’s probably the biggest achievement he had just like me. So our speeches only differences were the fact that my name isn’t his name, and the way it’s written (since I’m better at writing than he is) but people thought we copied each other. That system if we were in university would’ve ended our careers for doing absolutely nothing wrong and that’s a major issue

Tbf, getting expelled from college isn’t life ruined. I didn’t get expelled in that way but I flunk out. I asked probably 20 companies to work for free and it was better for me as an adhd and aspie guy. So applying for a job now, my college career never got mentioned at a job interview because of my hands on experience. Now I run my own 2 businesses selling steel and a restaurant. Not an easy route out, my work load was triple or quadruple that of college and I worked my ass off at the start and after a month they started paying me

Back when I was in High school back in 2007 as a freshmen I briefly had this trick where I'd eat an apple in 2 bites. I started doing it as a way to speed eat, forgot why but people were impressed. Basically what I'd do is put half the apple in my mouth, bite it in half, chew the half in my mouth and swallow it then eat the other half. So these group of seniors call be over to their table and wanted me to eat an apple in two bites. I went to do it cause I was still hungry but when my teeth went to bite down, it hit something oddly metallic feeling. So I take the apple out and break it open to find they had stuffed a quarter into it. Had I not noticed it I could have swallowed and choked. So I pocket the quarter and they start laughing. I go to the principle and tell them what happened. I later found out these 3 seniors got suspended and not only that but kicked off the sports teams they were on.

I've seen kids get suspended for plagiarizing, but getting straight up expelled is something that was never even considered at my old school.

This reminds me of the time I plagiarized in 8th grade.

So I was in a science class and we had these things called "current events" that were a different way of saying: Do some stupid presentation over something you found online that just so happens to relate to science. So I found a random thing online and made a presentation, absentmindedly, I copied down word-for-word a majority of my work. Go ahead and call me stupid, it was years ago, and I know it was beyond stupid already. So anyway I was doing my presentation and in the middle of it, the teacher called me out for plagiarizing, and I sat down. It was the single-most embarrassing moment of my life so far, I felt really bad about it so I remade the presentation without plagiarizing it and sent it to my teacher. I got a good grade with a note on the back saying "If you do it again it's a 0" which is honestly fair and luckily I didn't have to present again. The funny part of this story comes next though, I presented on a Friday so it was the weekend when I was redoing it and I just so happened to get sick over the weekend and had to skip Monday. When I got back on Tuesday, everyone thought I'd skipped because I was embarrassed and they said that the teachers had a whole talk about how plagiarism was bad in classes that day, I don't think it was fully my fault that happened because I heard some rumors about a girl plagiarizing in her class too but I definitely had some part to play in that.

TL;DR: My dumba** plagiarized in 8th grade, I got called out in the middle of class, redid the assignment but didn't have to present again and got a good grade because I redid it.

Moral of the story: Don't plagiarize, not only is it very risky and can ruin your school career but it's also very embarrassing to say the least, seriously, it's been years since I plagiarized on that assignment and I still cringe thinking about it time to time. The only reason I got off the hook in this instance was because I was below high school level and I redid the assignment.

@PenguinChu In where I live you don't get expelled that easily. A kid from my class brought his father's bayonet to school. He got in big trouble for sure but he didn't get expelled for it.

@Dice i think she had plenty of second chances. She couldve dropped out of the competition or fessed up her plagarism in hopes, but she chose to continue to ruin other competitors chances. She deserved the expulsion

It was definitely wrong for her to plagiarize, and she did need to be disciplined, and expulsion was just, but I still can't help feeling horribly sorry for her. It was like she won the "bad things are gonna happen" lottery. Although I don't know why you'd copy a WINNING essay and expect to not make it past the first round...

Okay to show you how long you make everything im gonna tell the exact same story but shorter -
When i was in college we had this thing where everyone submits a piece of writing work and then each class nominates a winner. Before we go into it we all get given examples of different winners from previous years. Each class gets a different example for example my friend johns class are the only ones with a certain example. The winning day comes and i don't win - mine wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either - the winners are all coming on stage and reading their examples in the auditorium and everything's good until during one speech my friend john kinda pulls a face. Like a "something's wrong" face. I wait until the speech is done and i look around to see around 6-7 other people with the same face looking around at the audience. I turn to john and ask him whats up and he says that the speech the girl read out was almost identical to the example read out to his class. I turn to johns teacher and he has the same look on his face. The girl didn't show upto classes and it turns out she faced disciplinary action for cheating.

Trust me, Son. There are few things you can do while in High School that will ruin your entire life, that is the talk of a Drama Queen... short of you killing somebody, or selling drugs or getting lost in drugs or alcohol... Even getting a girl pregnant and having a kid at 16 or 17 won't necessarily ruin your life, so certainly the forgery of an essay paper, no matter how "big deal" it may seem at the time, is NOT going to ruin your life... When you grow up a bit more, you will start to agree with me.

I have plagiarized works before too but i would cut out a huge chunk out of it and put something from myself in or other work entirely and i would change couple words ( usually very smart ones) to make the work little better than average , basically you would get a six or seven ( i have 10 grading system) Never got caught, though i got one teacher suspicious of me . She was my native language teacher and she has seen and read a lot of stuff.
