Got a black magic woman
Yes, I got a black magic woman
Got me so blind I can't see
But she's a black magic woman
And she's tryin' to make a devil out of me
Don't turn your back on me, baby
Yes, don't turn your back on me, baby
You're messin' around with your tricks
Don't turn your back on me, baby
'Cause you might just break up my magic stick
You got your spell on me, baby
You got your spell on me, baby
Yes, you got your spell on me, baby
Turning my heart into stone
I need you so bad, magic woman, I can't leave you alone
Yes, I need you so bad
Well, I need you darling
Yeah, I need you darling
Yes, I want you to love me
I want you to love me
Whoa, I want you to love me, ah
Whoa, yeah
Oh, whoa, baby
Yes, I need your love
The lyrics of Black Magic Woman by Peter Green - Fleetwood Mac begins with Green singing that he has a black magic woman who has made him blind. He describes her as a temptress who is setting him on a path to become a devil. This line signifies that the woman in question has some power over him, and he can't resist her charms. The chorus "Don't turn your back on me baby" warns the woman of her tricks and advises her not to break the "magic stick," signifying a phallic symbol that represents Green's virility and power. The second verse talks about the woman's ability to cast a spell on Green, which has turned his heart into stone. The last verse is a declaration of his need for the woman's love, and he wants her to reciprocate his feelings.
The lyrics of Black Magic Woman are open to interpretation, but one of the most common interpretations is that it's about a tumultuous relationship. The black magic woman symbolizes the woman who possesses irresistible charm and supernatural power over Green, making him feel trapped in the relationship. The magic stick that the woman could break is Green's ego or his masculine power. The song's ultimate message is that one can become trapped in a relationship by a partner who has such a hold over them, making them feel powerless to leave.

Hey I love Santana (the group) and Carlos Santana, but he gets credit far too often for writing songs like this, he also gets credited for writing Oye Como Va which was written by the legendary Tito Puente.
I’ve heard Santana fans praise Carlos Santana for his vocals on “black magic woman”. Carlos did not sing on the Santana albums, he’s had various vocalists over the years. Carlos is a great arranger and has written some awesome songs for sure, But I’ve never understood why many people call Carlos Santana “the best guitarist in the world”.
Perhaps they haven’t heard of Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, Andre Segovia, Howard Roberts, or Joe Pass?
@sampuatisamuel9785
Not really, Santana did a great job and it is only today that I have heard Peter singing the original version. It's fantastic

What I enjoy about Peter Green is his willingness to let other guitarists shine. He is so unselfish and humble in his greatness.

You got to let everybody breathe I'm a bass player he was a hell of a guitarist you're correct to let everybody breathe and have their space to shine
@ruddle17
He didn't need to compete because he even gave B.B. King the "cold sweats"

100%!! He was very modest and humble Danny Kirwan was a very talented kid and Peter Green always let him have his moment to shine. I think Danny Kirwan is only like 19 here.
