My flesh is weak my spirit is meek
And I'm down on my knees again
Soul searching never takes me anywhere but here
Take what you still have and catch the last train out of here
I've walked miles and I don't know where I'm headed
I've walked miles and now the road has ended
Spirit of truth, carry me through, give me a vision
Everyone I know finds some way of belonging
But I'm always outside, guilty as tried,
Fading away while the credits roll down
One foot out the door is how I have learned to live
I know there's a better way for me today
And I'm out to find it
I'm not too proud to beg and plead
Lord you know I am weak from walking these
Miles and I don't know where the road is headed
Walking these miles and so many have ended
Walking these miles, yes I believe it
Miles, help me to see it
Spirit of truth carry me through
Bring a vision
Every night I still look up to the heavens
Late, when the city sleeps and the world is so quiet around me
Then I still believe there is a way to make it through
And I will find it if I can carry on
Lord I'm not too proud to beg and plead
You know just what I need
To walk these miles and I don't know where I'm headed
These miles past where all the roads have ended
These miles to a promised land, I can see it
These miles
to a better version of me, please lead it
In Peter La Grand's song "Miles," the singer is expressing their struggles and search for purpose in life. They feel lost and isolated, not belonging anywhere, and walking aimlessly with no direction. They are aware of their weaknesses and limitations, yet they refuse to give up and are seeking guidance from a higher power, the "Spirit of truth."
The singer acknowledges the difficulties of their journey, the many miles they have walked without knowing where they are headed, and how many of those roads have ended. But they are still hopeful and determined to find their way, even if it means begging and pleading for help. They believe that there is a better version of themselves to be discovered, and they ask for divine intervention to bring them a vision and carry them through.
