Get Ready
Peter Rivera Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I never met a girl who makes me feel the way that you do
(it's alright)
Whenever I'm asked who makes my dreams real
I say that you do
(you're outta sight)
So fee fi fo fum

Look out baby 'cause here I come
And I'm bringing you a love that's true so get ready
So get ready
I'm gonna try to make love to you so get ready
So get ready here I come
I'm on my way

If you wanna play hide and seek with love let me remind you
(it's alright)
The loving you're gonna miss and the time it takes to find you
(it's outta sight)
So fiddle-lee-dee fiddle-lee-dum

Look out baby 'cause here I come
And I'm bringing you a love that's true so get ready
So get ready
I'm gonna try to make love to you so get ready
So get ready here I come
I'm on my way

All my friends shouldn't want me to I understand it
(be alright)
I hope I'll get to you before they do the way I planned it
(be outta sight)
So twiddle-dee-dee twiddle dee dum

Look out baby 'cause here I come
And I'm bringing you a love that's true so get ready
So get ready
I'm gonna try to make love to you so get ready
So get ready here I come.
I'm on my way.
Get ready 'cause here I come, boy

Get ready 'cause here I come, boy
Get ready 'cause here I come, boy

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Peter Rivera's song "Get Ready" talk about a man who is deeply in love with a girl that makes him feel different from anyone else he has ever met. He declares that she is the one who makes his dreams come true and that he will do anything to make her his. The lyrics are filled with metaphors and playful rhymes that add to the fun and upbeat vibe of the song.

The first verse starts with the statement that the girl he is singing about makes him feel a way that no one else ever has. He then proceeds to answer the question, "who makes my dreams real," by naming the girl he is interested in. The lyric "you're outta sight" is used as a compliment to the girl he is singing about, meaning that she is amazing. The chorus repeats the line "so get ready" multiple times, which implies that he is ready to commit to her and be with her. The lyrics also talk about how he is willing to try and win her over, no matter what it takes.

The second verse starts with a message to the girl that if she wants to "play hide and seek with love," she should remember that the love she may miss out on and the time it takes to find someone else may not be worth it. The lyric "it's alright" is used to reassure the girl that he understands her apprehension. The chorus is repeated once again, emphasizing his commitment to winning her over.

Overall, the lyrics of "Get Ready" are a testament to the lengths someone is willing to go to be with the person they love. The lyrics are playful, clever, and fun while still conveying a deep message about love and commitment.

Wow! He still sounds great. Not to mention singing and playing drums at his age is incredible

Of the 1970 lineup I believe Pete is one of just two survivors left. Just hearing him talk now the old voice is still there 52 years later unchanged. A legend!!

@marcthomas2153

Kenny james, rod richards is still alive as well as mike usro and ray monette

@muffs55mercury61

@@marcthomas2153 Thanks for that correction.

@classrockin

Love hearing Peter belt this out like it was still 1970 ! Rivera definitely still has the chops !

@ArcaneWeasel

What a powerhouse and pleasing vocalist. Drums are top shelf too. Sounds so good even after all these years. Wow, just blown away. Never better music than late 60’s early 70’s.
