Chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M'mi yi ouah sanman mi ooooooh!
Akouba, chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M'mi yi ouah sanman mi ooooooh!
Akouba, ma chérie,
J′ai tout fait pour toi
Je faisais tout pour ta famille
J'ai payé l′école de tes frères,
Votre nourriture du mois
Quand ton père me voyait:
Siro, mon beau-fils,
Tu es le meilleur des beaux,
Tu ressembles à trente-et-un
Tu es joli comme vingt-quatre
Je lui donnais tout mon argent
Ta mère me disait:
Siro, mon beau-fils,
Tu as la bonté de Jésus
Je laissais ma poche chez vous
Akouba eeeh! Eh!
Akouba oooh! Oh!
Akouba, chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Chérie coco eh, m′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Akouba, chérie coco eh, m′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Il me dit:
Mon petit,
Aaah! Le tonton,
Toi qui m'appréciais,
Toi qui me donnais toutes sortes de qualificatifs,
Aujourd′hui, tu me parles les sauvageries gnamkokar
Vraiment, à Abidjan, souris mange chat
Akouba, chérie coco eh, m′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M'mi yi ouah sanman mi ooooooh!
C′est depuis ce jour,
J'ai su que la beauté de l′homme
Se trouve dans sa poche
Si une go te suis,
Adjoua eeeh! Eh!
Akouba oooh! Oh!
′Kouba eeeh! Eh! Tu vas me tuer oooh! Yééé!
Akouba, chérie coco eh, m′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Chérie coco eh, m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M′mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!
Yéé!
Yéé! M'mi yi ouah sanman mi ooooooh!

The lyrics to "Cherie Coco" by Petit Yodé & L'enfant Siro tell a story of a man named Siro who goes above and beyond for his girlfriend Akouba, paying for her family's expenses and receiving praise from her parents. However, things take a turn when Siro loses his money and falls out of favor with Akouba's father, who no longer values him for his looks but instead judges him based on his financial situation. Siro learns that people only value what is in his pocket and not his actual character.
Through this story, the lyrics critique the societal emphasis on wealth and representation over genuine connections and relationships. Siro's initial good deeds are not reciprocated, and he is ultimately dismissed by his girlfriend's family because he is no longer materially beneficial. The repetition of the phrase "m'mi yi ouah sanman mi oh!" highlights the disappointment and shock that Siro experiences when he realizes the truth of the situation.
Overall, "Cherie Coco" is a cautionary tale about the danger of valuing money over people and the importance of genuine connections and values.
