1) Petra is a Christian Rock band formed in 1972 by Bob Hartman, Bill Glover, John DeGroff, and Greg Hough. "Petra" means "rock" in NT Greek, making the band name a triple pun. Rising from the Jesus music movement, and initially signed to [recordlabel]Myrrh Records[/recordlabel], they fought to gain acceptance and recognition in a church culture that at the time believed rock music to be off-limits. Over time they eventually won over most of their critics, thanks to a steady approach and some solid adult contemporary airplay hits like "The Coloring Song," outside of their usual rock fare. By the mid-80's, when lead singer Greg X. Volz left the band and was replaced by John Schlitt, Petra had solidified their place as the foremost Christian rock band in the industry with a string of hit albums and singles and strong touring. The release of Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out marked a turn towards modern-sounding worship music that would soon explode into the modern worship movement.
Petra was nominated for and won numerous Grammy and Dove Awards. In 1991, after the release of their acclaimed Beyond Belief record, Petra became the first rock band ever to win for Group of the Year at the Dove Awards. They were also the first Christian rock band to be inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
For three decades Petra continued to produce albums despite changes in their line-up as well as the genre and market. On May 24th, 2005 Petra announced their retirement after 33 years of ministry. They recorded one of their final performances in Franklin, Tennessee to release it as their last album, Farewell. Their last performance finished in the early hours of January 1, 2006 in Murphy, North Carolina. Bob Hartman and John Schlitt continue to tour under the moniker II Guys From Petra.

Woulda Shoulda Coulda
Petra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Based on Phil 3:13-14
Life is filled with many chances
Some you took, and you some you blew
Your path in life can turn ever so quickly
On everthing you say
And change with everything you do
I know that was then
There's nothing I can do about what might have been
(Chorus)
Would'a, should'a, could'a done this and that
Don't wanna live life with another regret
Would'a, should'a, could'a made another choice
I can see more the older I get
Would'a, should'a, could'a said something more
But it's too late - there's a knock at the door
Would'a, should'a, could'a won't change a thing
The here and now is waiting
Would'a, should'a, could'a right now
We dig our pit, we make our bed
That's where we fall and where we lay
But we still have a shot to make things better
'Cause it ain't over yet
And we can get it right today
We can make the right choice
You know it's easy when you hear God's voice
(Chorus)
I want to live my life not only thinking of the past
The future tells me that my life has not been cast
I want to say "I will, I did" instead of could or should
Gonna believe in the promise "It's all good"
(Chorus)
The song "Woulda Shoulda Coulda" by Petra is a reflection of one's past and the regrets that come along with it. It talks about how life is filled with various opportunities, some of which are taken and some of which are missed. The path of life can change drastically, based on the choices we make and the words we speak. The song urges us to stop dwelling on the past and concentrate on the present, which is waiting for us.
The lyrics of the song convey a message inspired by Philippians 3:13-14, which encourage us to forget what is behind and strain towards what is ahead. The song is a reminder that we cannot change the past, and instead of worrying about the mistakes we have made, we should focus on making better choices today. The song compels listeners to not live a life filled with regrets, but to recognize the opportunities available and seize them.
In conclusion, "Woulda Shoulda Coulda" is a song that reminds us to seize every opportunity that comes our way and make the best of our present. It urges us to move on from our past regrets and make different choices that can improve our future.

this song speaks volumes, God has a plan for our lives, if we wait until it's too late and never act on what God wants us to do, minestry etc then we failed God! Don't wait til it's too late, your old and grey. God Bless

Arrrammis
i think that the message of this song is that it is better to go forward and do something while you can instead of procrastinating until it is too late, and then you spend a lot of your life wondering why you didn't do it, and what would have happened if you did.
