Whatever It Takes
Peyton Manning Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Lookin' for a house an' a couple of acres
You'll be mine some time, sooner or later and I can't wait
Like a busy ol' bee savin' up it's honey
Honey I'm savin' up all my money
To have you I'll do anything I have to, whatever it takes
I hire me an airplane, have it paint your name up in the sky above
I tell the world I'm yours, put it on a billboard out on the interstate
If it takes forever to get us together
Honey I'll do whatever it takes.
Well I've been yellin' your name from a lookout mountain
Tossing my pennies in a downtown fountain
Makin' my wishes I'm hopin' they're countin' for love's sake
I swim upstream in a ragin' river
Walk through fire do you get the picture
I swear I bare anything to get there Whatever it takes
Whatever it takes to win your love
I hire me an airplane, have it paint your name up in the sky above
I tell the world I'm yours, put it on a billboard out on the interstate
If it takes forever to get us together
Honey I'll do whatever it takes.
Whatever it takes to win your love
I hire me an airplane, have it paint your name up in the sky above
Yeah I tell the world I'm yours, put it on a billboard out on the interstate
If it takes forever to get us together
Honey I'll do whatever it takes.
Well if it takes forever to get us together
Honey I'll do whatever it takes.
In Peyton Manning's song "Whatever It Takes," the lyrics depict a love-struck individual going to great lengths to win the affections of the person they desire. The singer sings about drawing little hearts in the morning paper and looking for a house and a couple of acres, all while eagerly waiting for their loved one to come into their life. The lyrics describe the singer's dedication to doing whatever it takes to win their love, from hiring an airplane to paint their name in the sky to putting their name on a billboard out on the interstate. They profess that they would swim upstream in a raging river and walk through fire just to be with their love.
The lyrics paint a picture of someone who is determined and willing to go to great lengths to win the heart of the one they desire. The imagery of the little hearts, the house and acres, and the airplane and billboard all serve to illustrate the intensity of the singer's desire. The lyrics emphasize the idea of doing "whatever it takes" to win the love of their life, no matter how difficult or impossible the task may seem. Ultimately, the song portrays love as something worth fighting for, even if it means going to great lengths and enduring great hardship.

Love it...love it! Peyton actually does an outstanding job singing with Kenny AND he mentions Lookout Mountain which is in my hometown.:) This really shows the fun side of Peyton, and that's what I love!
@kyliepollert8341
What's even funnier is that this was Kenny's debut single, but nobody knew who he was! He was signed to a very small label (Capricorn Records), and the album, "In My Wildest Dreams", failed to chart, nor did the 3 singles from it (this, "Somebody's Callin'" and "The Tin Man") break the Top 40 on the country charts. However, once he released the follow-up album, "All I Need to Know", led off by the Top Ten single "Fall in Love", he started to get recognized as another "hat act" newcomer in the mid-90's.
