Thank you, Sophie Bishop. The reason phantom has bootees on his feet is because they throw salt on the sidewalks in the winter when the ground gets too slippery but the salt can burn the dogs paws so I need to protect them at all times. Cheers for Montreal.🇨🇦😊

My cairns loved the cold but the salt on roads and walkways was brutal, thats where the shoes came in handy, but, being such a small dog compared to Phantom the shoes would get wet and then the salt would seep through, it was awful .
You are such a caring dog mommy he is very lucky.

Such a beautiful boy! I have a 3 yr old Leonberger, who’s 135 lbs. Where did you get Phantom’s boots? They are adorable! I need a pair of boots for my boy, but there isn’t much choice available here in the US for boots in his size. Thanks!

Hello Susan and welcome. Phantom’s bootees are actually sock slippers for humans I purchased at the dollar store. they are tall enough and wide enough to get his big paws through. I added a rubber soul with a hot glue gun and I insulated them with wool. I also added a StickyVelcro strip to his ankle which I also purchased at the dollar store, they come in a roll and I cut them to size, this way the Sock Slippers stay in place. I agree with you it is very difficult to find boots for Newfoundland dogs so I make them myself. The Velcro was the best option to wrap around his ankle but make sure you don’t tie them too tight to stop the circulation. Good luck and let me know if this works for you as well.😉❤️🇨🇦
