In June of 2000, Phil released his first solo album, Watching Over You, on Inpop Records. He supported this album with the Strangely Normal Tour accompanied by LaRue, Luna Halo, Earthsuit, V*enna & Katy Hudson. His second solo album, Bring It On, was released in November 2002 also on Inpop. His third album, The deliberatePeople. Album, was released on November 18, 2005 in conjunction with Phil and Heather Joel's newly founded Christian ministry, deliberatePeople.
His latest solo album follows his critically acclaimed sophomore 2002 release, Bring It On. Also in support of the ministry, his ministry website has journals containing a one-year Bible reading schedule and prayer guide. Both 12-month and 6-month Bible reading schedules are available on the dP website free of charge. The ministry also plans to have notes, journal entries, and insights corresponding with the one-year Bible reading schedule starting January 1, 2006.
His wife Heather is a former host of All Access and Hit Trip on CMT. They were married in 1996.
On December 31st 2006 he left the newsboys to devote more time to family and personal goals.
Resolution
Phil Joel Lyrics

Here comes the smack down
I got ya back so don't ya flinch
No, don't ya back down now
The fight?s already been won, push back
Break me to make me
Tell me straight, let me have it
How else am I gonna find out?
This is no new school revolution
There is nothing new under the sun
You're not the only one, so
Hold me to my resolution
And I will do to you the same
A strand of three chords
Is not easily broken
Together we are stronger
We will never stay the same
This is gonna hurt
Maybe more than a little
The wounds of a friend
Always strong never brittle now
You won't be coming undone
This is no new school revolution
There is nothing new under the sun
No, you're not the only one so
Keep movin?, stick together
Keep your head down
In Phil Joel's song "Resolution", he urges listeners to pick up their guard and face their challenges head-on. He promises that he will have their back, so they shouldn't hesitate or back down. The song emphasizes the importance of resilience and pushing back against adversity. Even when things are tough, we must hold onto our resolve and stay strong.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the power of accountability and friendship. Phil Joel sings, "Hold me to my resolution, and I will do to you the same." The idea here is that we need people to keep us accountable if we want to achieve our goals. Joel believes that we are stronger together and that we can weather any storm as long as we have the support of our friends and loved ones.
Overall, "Resolution" is an uplifting and inspiring song that encourages listeners to keep pushing forward no matter what challenges come our way. The song reminds us that we are not alone, and we can always rely on our friends to help us stay strong and hold us accountable.
