By the time Ryan graduated from NYU in December 2013, she had notebooks filled with various writings, including what she describes as "long short stories and long-winded randomness." She wrote "Mine" last June, after heading to Nashville to work with producer/songwriter Kyle Shearer (Tove Lo, Augustana) and latching onto the phrase "gold in the wreckage," which she had discovered jotted down in one of her many notebooks.
Phoebe Ryan caught the attention of the music blogosphere on the time when she started releasing various kind of remixes & covers of famous singer such as R.Kelly, Miguel & Kesha. But it is not much as it was after release of her own first single "Mine" in late January of 2015. "I feel like I've been waiting forever and ever to put out my own music, to make it official," Ryan tells Billboard. "And now everything's starting to get super real. One of my favorite songs I've ever written is now out in the world. And people seem to like it!"
Later on Ryan released her first debut EP "Mine" on 9 June 2015. Ryan says that she and her small team is "trying to get this thing off the ground before even thinking about such nonsense as a record label," but firmly believes that her goals will be achieved. But, later on she was owned by Columbia Records.
"There are times in my life where I'm doubtful, but I feel it in my heart that something's supposed to happen that's going to be wonderful," she says. "I'm just too optimistic, really."

I remember last Sunday
You were wearing my old favourite Iron Maiden shirt
So happy in your arms
Yeah, she was looking perfect
Felt like someone stabbed me with an arrow through my heart
Some things never change
No, don't you dare put a ring on her finger
It's a huge mistake choosing her
No, don't you dare put your lips up against hers
And say you don't want me anymore
And damn, it's so hard
When your life is like a movie
And you're just the extra watching her become the star
And maybe I'm dumb, but I always thought someday
We were gonna have each other 'til death do us part
Some things never change
Isn't life without me strange?
No, don't you dare put a ring on her finger
It's a huge mistake choosing her
No, don't you dare put your lips up against hers
And say you don't want me anymore
No, don't you dare
No, don't you dare
No, don't you dare
Some things never change
No, don't you dare put a ring on her finger
It's a huge mistake choosing her
No, don't you dare put your lips up against hers
And say you don't want me anymore
No, don't you dare
No, don't you dare (don't you dare, don't you dare)
No, don't you dare (don't you dare, don't you dare)
Some things never change
In Phoebe Ryan's song "Ring", she tells a story about a past lover whom she is not over with. The song is about the struggles of moving on when you see the person you love with someone else. The song starts off with Ryan remembering a time when she saw her former lover with his new girlfriend in a park wearing a t-shirt that belonged to Ryan. It's clear that Ryan still has feelings for him because she describes feeling like someone stabbed her with an arrow in her heart upon seeing him. She then goes on to sing about how hard it is to watch her former lover move on without her and alter the course of their lives. Ryan talks about how she always thought that they would end up together, but now she's just an extra in his story, watching him become the star without her.
The chorus of the song is where the real pain comes through. Ryan pleads with her former lover, telling him not to put a ring on his new girlfriend's finger because it will be a huge mistake for him to choose her over Ryan. She further pleads with him not to put his lips up against his new girlfriend's and say he doesn't want her anymore because that will break her heart. The lyrics are emotional and raw, and they perfectly capture the pain of an unrequited love.
Overall, "Ring" is a powerful song that captures the heartbreak of unrequited love. It talks about how hard it is to move on when you still have feelings for someone and all you can do is watch them move on without you. It's a heartfelt and emotional ballad that will resonate with anyone who has been in a similar situation.
