The wind that blows
Piers Faccini Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A song as soft as silence goes
Into each thread a secret said
The sun and moon on a wedding bed
A rope unbound a treasure found
A healing ground an island drowned
To be without and not belong
And I won't seek nor will I find
Today is here then gone behind
The future makes the past opaque
I've given all for true love's sake
The tolling chime the senseless mime
The whirling hand of the beast of time
And what of this for a traitor's kiss
And what of now for a beggar's bliss
To fall away and leave the fray
To disappear and lose the way
And I won't seek nor will I find
Today is here then gone behind
The lost ones and the lonely
Are the ones that go before their time is done
And the broken and the helpless
Are the ones that leave but never ever come
I'm not ashamed to be unnamed
And unmarked box left unclaimed
To be without and not belong
Between the right and the wrong
And I won't seek nor will I find
Today is here then gone behind
The lyrics of Piers Faccini's song "The wind that blows" explore the ephemeral nature of life and the complexities of human existence. The opening lines, "The wind that blows quiet knows a song as soft as silence goes, Into each thread a secret said, The sun and moon on a wedding bed" evoke a sense of mystery and introspection. The wind is a powerful metaphor for the elusiveness of life, blowing through space and time, carrying with it secrets and untold stories.
As the song continues, Faccini delves further into the intricate nature of human existence. The lines "To be without and not belong, Between the right and the wrong" highlight the ambiguity and complexities that exist in our lives. We often find ourselves caught in-between what is perceived as right and wrong, trying to navigate our way through life's moral complexities. Faccini's lyrics also deal with themes of loss, pain and the inevitability of change. He talks about a "healing ground" that is discovered after "a rope unbound, a treasure found, an island drowned". The lines "The lost ones and the lonely, Are the ones that go before their time is done, And the broken and the helpless, Are the ones that leave but never ever come" are quotes that beautifully personify the struggle we sometimes carry through with us until the end of our lives.
Overall, Piers Faccini's "The wind that blows" portrays the human experience in a very stark and honest manner. The song lyrically creates a picture of the world full of wonder, mystery, and adversity; the road that we all travel across. It's a song about embracing the uncertainties of life, about acknowledging the reality of pain, and about finding peace within oneself.
