Hi the tutorial is great I created my "Trade Calculator" indicator, it asks for two inputs "Buy Price" and "Quantity" and then it calculates and plots live profit in the tile.

I need to improve it and make it work on several charts with different inputs for every chart.

What is happening now is that the same inputs are reflected on every chart I add the indicator to.

So is there a way to narrow the inputs scope and make indicator inputs reflected only to the chart(pair) that I add it to???

Thanks

I am trying to read symbols (strings) from an array, but array.get returns a series[string] object, while security only accepts simple strings. I tried casting to string, but it still gives a "series[string] argument is not accepted" error. Is there a way to make this work?
//@version=4
study("etfa", shorttitle = 'etfa', max_bars_back=500, overlay = false)
length=input(40, title="length", type=input.integer)
sFunc(length) =>
kkl=stoch(close,high,low,length)
kkl
aaa=array.new_float(0,0)
aa=array.new_string(4, "text")
array.set(aa,0,"AAPL")
array.set(aa,1,"MSFT")
array.set(aa,2,"AMZN")
array.set(aa,3,"GOOGL")

for i = 0 to 3

k=array.get(aa,i)
r=string(k)
rr=security(r, timeframe.period,sFunc(length))
array.push(aaa,rr)

Man, You are simply awesome ! i was looking for pine tutorials on YouTube and believe me, most of them made me sleep, but finally i found the perfect guy with perfect content. Not only that but the way you explain every details, keeps your mind into it. So thanks man for building the confidence in me that, "Yes i can also do little bit of coding"
Now i am also a follower as i just Subscribe your channel.

I never comment but I have to do now for the amazing guides you provide ! Clear and straight to the point ! Thank you so very much !!!

ExProphet

I like the straight forward, in plain English, approach that you do. Most coding tutorials seem like they just read from the developers manual on whatever language they're teaching.

Excellent video! Thanks for the concise and relevant lessons.

Great tutorial. One question: can pine scripts be used for creating a watchlist (for cases where the scanner does not have enough flexibility). Or is it only for studies?

The Art of Trading

Unfortunately not :( I too would LOVE this feature and I hope the TradingView team are working on it. It's one of the most disappointing limitations of Pine at the moment

Hi, this was already more than enough for me to learn the basics and then translate some good pine scripts into python. Thanks
