Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Placido Domingo and the Vienna Boys Choir's song Ave Maria are a tribute to the Virgin Mary, with references to the Annunciation when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to announce that she had been chosen to bear the son of God. The phrase "gratia plena" means "full of grace," and Mary is referred to as "benedicta" or blessed among women. The repetition of "Ave Maria" is a traditional Catholic prayer that asks for the intercession of Mary.

The lyrics also reference the "fructus ventris" or "fruit of the womb," which is Jesus. The song praises Mary for her role as the mother of Jesus and asks for her guidance and support. The words "Dominus tecum" mean "the Lord is with you," reinforcing the idea that Mary is under the protection and care of God.

Overall, Ave Maria is a reverent and beautiful hymn that exalts Mary as a mother, a holy figure, and a symbol of faith and grace.

@rojilloize
