Catari, Catari, pecche me dice sti parole amare,
Pecche me parle e 'o core me turmiente, Catari?
Nun te scurda ca t'aggio date 'o core, Catari,
Nun te scurda!

Catari, Catari, che vene a dicere stu parla ca me da spaseme?
Tu nun'nce pienze a stu dulore mio,
Tu nun'nce pienze, tu nun te ne cure.

Core, core, 'ngrato,
T'aie pigliato 'a vita mia,

Tutt'e passato e
Nun'nce pienze chiu!

Overall Meaning

The song Core'ngrato by Plácido Domingo is a powerful representation of a man's immense pain and misery, as he pleads with his former lover to remember the love they shared, begging for an explanation for the harsh words she's spoken to him. The opening lines of the song, "Catari, Catari, pecche me dice sti parole amare / pecche me parle e 'o core me turmiente, Catari?" indicate his desperate confusion and longing for clarity. He has given her his heart, and she seems to have taken it and left him in a state of immense turmoil, with little explanation or concern for the pain he is feeling. The plea for her to remember the love they shared demonstrates a man who is wracked with pain, still clinging to a hope that the love they shared may not be completely gone.

The chorus of the song, "Core, core, 'ngrato, / T'aie pigliato 'a vita mia, / Tutt'e passato e / Nun'nce pienze chiu!" further underscores his desperation and pain. He accuses his former lover of ingratitude, of having taken his life and heart for granted, while also acknowledging that everything they had is now in the past. He seems to be saying that despite the end of their relationship, he is still gripped with pain and longing, while she has moved on and forgotten him completely. The song reflects the deep emotions that come with the end of a relationship, the heartache of not understanding why someone you loved so deeply can be so cruel and unfeeling, and the struggle to move on when you still feel so much pain.

Mr Domingo is a real artist. He can act, conduct, play the piano and SING. He is also, as far as I can understand, a real human being.

So much sad and sorrow in Placido`s voice. Breaks my heart with every sound. With every word He sings. Stunning. Placido is...The One. Forever.

@MrSciuppy1
