Beautifully sung. Domingo is a fabulous singer. It should be pointed out that this performance is a half step lower than the original, but it's a shrewd choice. PD now sings baritone roles and he always had a baritonal color to his voice.

Thank you! Sung beautifully, with a good German accent, by one of my favorite tenors. As I recall, PD kept this lovely song alive, from the operetta "The Land Of Smiles" (Das Land Des Lecheins by Lehar), while other operatic tenors snubbed it... Until they realized how much people loved it. Villazon (PD's student) also sings it beautifully. And I think it's been a boost for Kaufmann (Jonas, of course).

Ah the note at 328- so sublime. I just love him. I've listened to so many of these You Tube videos by Placido I almost feel that I know him. It is my dream one day to meet him in person. I would cherish that memory.

Very beautiful. I see it was more difficult to sing operetta aria than standard opera repertoire, but Placido came out as the winner.
