As a former "Californian" I can tell you that this is absolutely true! Talking directions to any place in LA is every day, normal speak. And, what they don't tell you here is that when you live in LA, everywhere in LA is only 20-minutes from everywhere else in LA! This is pure gold!
By the way, Trey's directions were mostly wrong! Yes, the 5 will take him to the 101, and the taco truck can then take to where it meets the 10, and yes, the 101/10 intersection will be pretty close to Alhambra, but Sunset Blvd is nowhere near there....But even worse, Cahuenga is in the Valley, and not anywhere near Alhambra! I'm in Canada, and only been to California once, back in 2010. The whole driving directions thing is so accurate and made me laugh so much! I was working in downtown LA just off Hollywood Blvd for a few days before flying back home. I had a GPS, but I was given directions on how to get back to my hotel in Pasadena - as if I'd know where any of those streets or turnoffs are! @@wombatcube- In LA (west of Downtown) from almost Long Beach up into The (San Fernando) Valley, whenever people arrive to a location, especially if they are late, they proceed to tell the person they meet the route they took and frequently that other person then responds with an alternate route that would have been faster (in their mind).

Also, if someone says "I've gotta go, because I have to drive to _______.", they will be asked which route that they are planning to take and then, if that is not the best route in someone else's mind, they will then suggest an alternate route.

It also occurs between people who have seniority in LA vs people who are new. In 2007 I had a friend call me via Skype from LA... I was living on another continent, but had lived in LA a number of years, and he was asking me for suggestions on which route to take to get to the meeting he was going to. It is soooooo LA/SoCal.

@@Mandapanda. The 405 is only a regional interstate. It branches off from I-5 in centralish LA County, only to merge back like 100-150 miles later in southern Orange County. It sort of parallels I-5 and the Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1), running between them.

We were so good with the Thomas Guide. Learning how to drive between four counties. Mastering freeway travel and when to avoid it... definitely a typical conversation while at Trader Joes. You had to be on point; lots of areas to avoid and super easy to get lost. Now we just listen to google maps.

Born and raised in Southern CA and periodically I go back and watch these to have a good laugh because I recently retired out of state.. It's so funny because it is all so true, although perhaps it should have been called " The Southern Californians". I was from Torrance, which when I visit home and fly into to LAX, I take the 105 east and then south on the 405 then EB Sepulveda toward the beach, lol
