The band emerged for the first time in the middle of the 80s as a guitar based progrock band with strong influences from Genesis, Vangelis, Yes and Pink Floyd. The band consists of two guitar players, keyboards, drums and bass. A quite traditional line up but with two lead singers in addition to the rest of the band who takes care of backing vocals. A lot of thought and focus has been given to the vocal arrangements.
Guitars have been given a lot of room beside vocals in the music. With mixed influences from Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Hank Marvin Steve Hackett and Steve Howe, the result has become a typical Pluto & The Planets sound.

Shit didn't pave for me
Watched them all pay Felipe
This shit you won't take from me
You won't take from me
You'll never take from me
And girl I don't tell no lies
I wont tell no lies
I'm getting busy tonight (oh my)
Oh my, that pussy dripping tonight
(And don't lie)
And don't lie my baby you for this life
And even though you
Didn't stay for the night
(And even though you
Didn't stay for the night)
She a 10 for real
Yea, she a 10 for real
I got some digits coming close
I want 10s and mills
They'll attend for real
Man, they'll attend for real
I got my niggas going all militant for real
They choosing their lovers
(And oh Maya)
I guess she a fighter
Your pussy got drama
Your pussy got drama
This road wasn't paid for me
Shit didn't pave for me
Watched them all pay Felipe (Oh my)
This shit you won't take from me
You won't take from me
You'll never take from me
And girl I don't tell no lies
I wont tell no lies
I'll never tell no lies
The Pluto And The Planets song "Take Me Home" is a hip hop tune that draws heavily on the slang and rhythms of African American urban culture. The lyrics are full of references to "the Yard," which appears to be a reference to the "yard" of a prison or detention center. The singer is proud of his "world wide recognition" and "Massive status," suggesting a strong desire for both success and respect from his peers. He makes reference to "vocalist quantum perfect movin' motions melodic" and "over oceans, overdosing off the cultures of product," suggesting elements of musical experimentation and drug use.
The refrain of the song, "wit swollen pockets, we gon' take it back home," suggests both the desire for financial success and the desire to return to a place of comfort and familiarity. The line "so step up if you want to keep your rep up" is a challenge to potential rivals to compete for the singer's status and respect. Overall, the song seems to be a defiant assertion of the singer's talents, abilities, and ambitions.
