My Gift To You
Pokemons Are Rare And Hardcore Lyrics

You Can't Kill My Rock 'N Roll

Down down that beat to the floor
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

I wanna go out
I wanna go out tonight
Need to see the ones I like
No hard times just pure delight

When you are at home
Anxious and alone
Staring at the phone
Please tell me to come
To roll away the stone

I call you up
What's on your mind
Why can't you come
Let's not waste no more time

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for
Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

Tonight we're going out
Searching for the sound
Open up your mind
Good times ain't hard to find
You're a friend of mine

Wanna find out
What it's all about
The sound will make me strong
Won't judge me if I'm wrong
Here I belong

I call you up
What's on your mind
Why can't you come
Let's not waste no more time

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for
Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for
Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for
Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for
Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

Down down that beat to the floor
What we are living for

Don't be a whiny bore
You can't kill my rock 'n roll

I think something that is pretty cool to play with in terms of rare candy exploits, ev training, and level caps as a whole could go something like this:

1) to eliminate pointless grinding on wild pokemon (which can be simply boring and stakesless), rare candies may be used to bring existing pokemon to the available level cap of the region/area.

1.1) rare candies may not be used until every available trainer has been fought for exp to level up existing pokemon. rare candies may only be used on the necessary pokemon for tackling a level cap gym.

1.1.1) in the event of multiple high-stakes mandatory battles which require different team setups, the nuzlocker may choose which pokemon to grind on trainers (for EVs) and which pokemon to simply level up through rare candies (eliminating the possibility of EVs, but also the chance of fainting).

1.1.2) if a trainer encounter that requires a different team setup is skippable, the nuzlocker may choose to skip that encounter at the cost of losing the rare candy exploit (explained in 2.1).

1.2) rare candies may be hacked into the game as needed to allow the player to have a smoother, but no less challenging experience.

2) EV items are banned. EV training using an EV trainer is banned.

2.1) if the player desires, they may grind EVs (and levels) on wild pokemon and forego the luxury of the rare candy exploit in order to meet level cap breakpoints. if EV grinding is selected as an option, the rare candy exploit may not be used until the existing level cap has been beaten.

2.2) the EV grinding/rare candy exclusion clause is considered broken even if being forced to fight arena trap/shadow tag/magnet pull wild pokemon. being unable to escape them could be considered a strategic error and thus is the responsibility of the nuzlocker, rather than an unfortunate game mechanic.

all of this would be, in my opinion, be in the name of making the game more about important strategic choices, which I think is what makes a nuzlocke fun, rather than simply being allowed to grind full EVs immediately or skipping all trainers in favour of focusing solely on key encounters with rare candies. do you choose to skip a really hard trainer so you don't risk losing a mon? or do you choose to fight that trainer so you can unlock using rare candies on your pokemon but lose the EV training potential?

@NapkinDictator

I like to play with this specific ruleset. Keep in mind, I'm a degenerate randomizer lmao

1: Permadeath, obviously
2: Nickname everyone, obviously
3: You only lose if you either completely run out of pokemon in your boxes, or if you softlock with no way to use needed HM's
4: Items are OK out of battle
5: First encounter catch in each new route/area. Static encounters/gifts are good too, though don't trade your precious babies away
6: Don't intentionally grind too much, I don't really have a hard limit for leveling though
7: Keep the EXP share in gens 6 and 7 turned off

Now for the random bits
1: Use global randomization!! This replaces all instances of wild pokemon with specific species. Every annoying zubat could be an annoying eevee, or palkia, etc. Catching 2 of the same species is ok, you just gotta deal with it
2: For trainers, use full random for everyone, except your rival. They get to keep their starter because I think it's cool
3: Randomize all items, and shops too, if you can. The randomizer program doesn't support that unfortunately

Thats all I can remember rn

@TheSLATEcleaner

The way I like to play with Nuzlockes is like this:

No items, set mode, nicknames [obvious ones]

Lose on white out

Level cap to the gym leader before going in the gym but must finish the gym without leaving on entry [variation]

Instead of getting random encounters the normal way, I use a random number generator to pull a single pokemon of each type from before the post-game not including the type of my starter. I can capture one of each of these pokemon as I encounter them to make up my team. This allows for team variety without allowing me to get 'free' good pokemon through exhausting early encounters or grabbing uncontested Magikarp. This also limits my total pokemon number to a max of 18 once fairy types were introduced, 17 between gen II and gen V, and 15 in gen I. This greatly reduces the amount of leeway I have on strategic sacrifices, since at max my runs have 3 full teams of pokemon available.

Additionally, for main series pokemon games [i.e. not romhacks] I use a 'slot' system where I start with two slots and gain one every two badges. This limits the number of pokemon I can have in my party at any given time to the number of slots I have [2 prior to badge 2, 3 pokemon after badge 2, 4 after badge 4, 5 after badge 6, and a full team of 6 after the eight badge]. If a pokemon dies, I remove a slot as well as releasing the pokemon. This heavily punishes mistakes and makes me play more cautiously in the early game, since if any 2 pokemon die before badge 2, I auto-wipe since I don't have a slot left to carry pokemon, and even losing a single pokemon early means being down a pokemon for the rest of the run.

So far, I've run White, Black 2, Sapphire, Sword, and Blue like this.

Blue was by far the hardest, though it was the only one I didn't have failed attempts with. I lost my Bulbasaur to Misty and Venonat to SS Anne Rival fight, so from SS Anne rival until I beat Erica I had only one pokemon slot. I only lost one other pokemon - I made a bad play against Silph Co rival and lost my Ghastly - but that meant I doing Blaine and Giovanni with only 2 pokemon, then pre-Victory Road rival and the Elite Four with only three pokemon. The only reason I completed the game at all was getting Tauros as my Normal type encounter and Jolteon as my Electric type encounter, they carried hard. I think that's fair though, since I literally had just Bulbasaur until Mt Moon where I could get my bug type [Venomoth] and my ground type soon after just before Cerulean [Sandshrew] then didn't get to pick up another pokemon until Rock Tunnel. My encounters for Bulbasaur [Grass], Venomoth [Bug], Sandshrew [Ground], Jolteon [Electric], Ghastly [Ghost], Hitmonlee [Fighting], Aerodactyl [Flying], Tauros [Normal], Jynx [Psychic], Vulpix [Fire], Lapras [Water], Cloyster [Ice], Dratini [Dragon], Koffing [Poison], and Onix [Rock]. I decided against using Dragonite since I was nervous about trying to sweep with it vs Lance

The Sword run I'm in right now [it will be my second] lost a Liepard to Marnie 1 so now I'm going into Hammerlocke with a two pokemon team with the two best being Lanturn [my electric type] and Stunky [my poison type]. I'm terrified of running my Corvisquire right now since Corviknight is above my level cap and during attempts for my first run I lost a minus defense nature Corvisquire in the double battle with the Team Yell Grunts right before Gym 3, which along with an early loss of my starter to a stray crit forced me to try single pokemon Gym 3 with just Sheer Force Gurdurr [the only pokemon I had at that point that was even close to bulky], which then got burned twice [Rawst Berry] vs Kabu so I wiped.

It's been fun, if a bit of a headache if i don't get enough early game pokemon.

@joselmancomancoconhonor9757

My favourite nuzlocke challenge I did was on Pokemon Ultra Sun, the InsularLocke. I will leave the rules here just in case anyone is wondering:
Classical Nuzlocke rules:
If a pokemon faints it must be stored or released
Only first encounter on each route can be catched
No overleveling the Totem Pokemon / Hunai main pokemon
No duplicates - evolution lines. If one is encountered, you may reload it

And here the extra rules apply
The team can only have 1 pokemon per island (exclusions to this are the starter and the eevee you are gifted)
Can only use 3 Z-Moves on the run (I choose 3 as an arbitrary number back in the day, but only really used 2. Using none is definitely possible dough)
There are a maximum of 10 lives in the run. Eevee(volution) and/or the starter may revive at any point, consuming a live. If any other pokemon faits, it consumes a life and can not be revived.

@wildstorm3486

@@feva6774 hmm you bring up a good point. I don’t know if he has anything that covers that.

So I’ll counter with this. First off I do believe he said at least once in this video that this list is a little old and somewhat out of date.
And second You don’t have to follow his rules to the letter. You can teak and change these rules to make more sense to you. And in fact you should change them if you are not have fun.

These rules are rules that he feels makes the games more fun and enjoyable for himself while keeping the games challenging.

You can play with them if you want.
BUT IF YOU are not having fun with them or just
Don’t find them to make sense for your situation change them.

However i do think the ruling would be this.
You have to try and catch your fist encounter in the Safari Zone. If you fail to catch that first encounter well your out of luck just like on any other route. If you catch your first encounter then that’s you POKÉMON from the Safari Zone.

@kamikazesenpai21

My personal rules that I used in my most recent/first nuzlocke:

-First pokemon each route
-gift pokemon are Always allowed, but only one per source. For example, in celadon city, I could get eevee, grimer, and abraham, but not eevee, grimer, abra, and dratini.
-dupes clause, based on the Pokéball symbol.
In the safari zone, you can catch anything but keep only 2
If a pokemon. Faints its dead; permabox it
Shinies are always allowed
Nicknames
Ny team was really good, filled with the best pokemon in the game: Venusaur, Alakazam, Zapdos, Gyarados, Pidgeot, and a death fodder Gastley.

@LinkNinjaMaster

The only time I haven't followed the "met at" clause is in Gen 7, because Alola has fewer routes than usual, but some of those routes have different, unique overworld sections with their own names and encounter tables, but still appear as the same route in the "met at" section of your Pokémon summary.

@silas8772

Yep, my rule has always been “if it has a different name popping up in the corner, it’s a new route”

@skycastrum5803

In my most recent Alolan nuzlockes I actually quit midway and restarted restricting my catches to only one per a major challenge (totem/kahuna/elite 4, and freebie mons). I didn’t like having so many boxed mons.

@obits3

I see two ways to deal with generation 7:

New encounter table = New area
Or
You can replace dead Pokemon with other non-duplicate mons from that route. If you run out, the route is exhausted.
