Good News
Pop Smoke Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To believe in something as though it already existed
Bashar means "bringer of good news" (this is a Melo beat)
When you saw the word "Faith" on this cover
I'm sure you thought this was a gospel album
The word gospel means "the good news"
So in a sense, Bashar is bringing the good news
Telling you to believe in yourself
That greatness was his to manifest
He had a vision, a plan, and he made it work
Good news, faith, hope, and understanding
The smoke will never clear
The lyrics to Pop Smoke's "Good News" are a powerful reflection of his own beliefs and values. The song's opening lines introduce the concept of faith as the act of believing in something as if it already existed. This sets the tone for a song that is ultimately about the power of positive thinking and the importance of having faith in oneself.
Later in the song, Pop Smoke references his friend Bashar, whose name means "bringer of good news." He explains that his album is not a gospel album, but that in a sense, Bashar is bringing the good news by encouraging people to believe in themselves. Pop Smoke himself is a testament to the power of this message, as he is someone who believed in himself and his abilities to the point where he was able to manifest his own greatness.
Throughout "Good News," Pop Smoke emphasizes the importance of having a vision and a plan and making them work. He also references other key values like hope and understanding, which all contribute to a larger message of positivity and self-belief. And even though he acknowledges that "the smoke will never clear," he maintains a sense of hope and optimism that is truly inspiring.
