1.) Postcards is a dream pop trio formed in 2012 in Beirut, Lebanon. The band is known for their signature sound mixing shoegaze/dream pop soundscapes with post-punk and noise, evoking the paradox of life in Beirut. Paired with Sabra’s hushed, velvety voice and poignant lyrics tackling feelings of alienation, anger and despair, especially as a young woman, Postcards’ songs speak for a post-war generation trying to understand their place in the world.
Postcards have released three EPs and three albums, and are currently working on their fourth. Their latest album After the Fire, Before the End (out 15/10/2021, via Berlin-based t3 records), was written between January 2020 and January 2021 and co-produced by Fadi Tabbal, the band’s longtime producer. It is a record of the devastating year that the country witnessed, through the eyes of the band; from the uprising, to the economic collapse, the pandemic and devastating August 4 explosion.
Postcards have also released In Parenthesis Vol.1 exclusively on Bandcamp in April 2022, a collaborative album showcasing their more experimental side, written and recorded entirely during their residency in Byblos, courtesy of Beirut & Beyond.

I keep recalling the unhappy and distressed expressions on our faces when we're together, and it's causing me distress and anxiety.
Though the times change you stay the same, casting off the blame
Even though circumstances have shifted, you refuse to acknowledge your part in our relationship's problems, and you avoid taking responsibility for your actions.
And not a word was spoken oh no Only silence
We're not communicating with each other effectively, and our mutual silence is causing a growing divide between us.
Only silence and our penniless dreams, in a darkened room
We're keeping our hopes and aspirations to ourselves, and it's leading to an atmosphere of gloom and despair.
And over mountains rivers and trees still the flowers bloom
Despite the world moving on, and the beauty and vibrancy of nature, our relationship is stagnant and lifeless.
But here the walls keep crumbling down, down along the line
We can sense that our relationship is slowly disintegrating, and the walls we put up around us to protect ourselves are becoming increasingly fragile.
And you just stand there waiting for a sign
You're not taking any initiative to mend our relationship, and are instead waiting for me to make the first move.
And still the words escape me
Despite wanting to communicate my thoughts and feelings, I'm unable to find the right words or the courage to express myself.
