Pride and Fall came into being when Sigve and Svein wanted to pursue a more electronic and club-oriented sound than what they were doing in their goth/darkwave project An Evening With Kisses. As a result, Per Waagen, an old friend joined Pride and Fall as a programmer and keyboard player.
They released a demo shortly after, and in 2003, released their debut album, Nephesh, and debut single Paragon on Dependent Records in Europe, Metropolis Records in the United States, and Memento Materia in Scandinavia. Pride and Fall performed their first gigs outside of Norway in 2004, including Cyberia/X-Club in Holland, the Invitation Festival in Belgium and the Dark City Festival in Scotland.
In late 2005, the band released their second single, the web-only release Border, and in 2006, their second album Elements of Silence. Along with Revolution By Night the band toured Britain in May 2006, supporting Covenant on their UK Skyshaper tour. Pride and Fall released their 3rd album, In My Time of Dying, on 17 August 2007, their final album on Dependent Records. Their also played the Festival kinetic 2.0 in Canada 17 May 2008.
After a break the band returned on Dependence 2012 with the song Reborn, and a new album were released 30 August 2013.
Beginning with influences of metal, goth and progressive trance, Pride and Fall came together to combine the distinct and contrasting elements of these genres into something never heard before to spawn a refreshing and innovative surprise for the listener. Hailing from Norway, vocalist Sigve Monsen along with Per Waagen and Svein Joar Auglaend Johnsen have been dredging the depths of electronic music for fresh ideas since 2000. With the first album, Nephesh, Pride and Fall had created a new and innovative sound in the world of Futurepop. They further explored this sound in the follow up album Elements of Silence. The third album from the band, 2007’s In My Time Of Dying, was recorded following a year marked by divorce, a friend's suicide, a loss in the family, and more. The experiences shaped the sound and feel of the band. In 2013 Pride and Fall returned with Of Lust and Desire, an album showing the band’s growth while maintaining the styles that were loved by their fans and forged over a tumultuous decade. Turn the Lights on EP was released 15.08.2014, and includes the original track, one Pride and Fall remix, three additional remixes and the new song As I Carve.
Turn the Lights On
Pride and Fall Lyrics

Keep you warm
I've got your soul and all
Red lips
Perfect skin
I need you to light the flame within
Turn the lights on I'm about to start
It's the same as the heart keeps pumping
Pumping that blood wont't help at all
Turn the lights on I'm about to start
The night we wake the end we fear
It's the same as the hole I'm digging
Digging a shape in human form
Why so cold?
I've kept you warm
Had my skin next to yours
A pale white turned slight blue
Lifeless
I see magic in you
Turn the lights on I'm about to start
The night we wake the end we fear
It's the same as the heart keeps pumping
Pumping that blood wont't help at all
Turn the lights on I'm about to start
The night we wake the end we fear
It's the same as the hole I'm digging
Digging a shape in human form
The lyrics of "Turn the Lights On" by Pride and Fall seem to describe a ritualistic or sexual encounter with someone who has lost their vitality or spark. The singer is in a rush to "keep you warm" and claims to have the other person's soul as well as their body, indicated by the line "I've got your soul and all." The descriptions of "red lips" and "perfect skin" are sensual and suggest a desire to revive the other person's passion or energy. The singer urges the other to "light the flame within," perhaps implying that they want the other person to awaken or become more vibrant.
The repeated refrain of "Turn the lights on I'm about to start" seems to suggest that the singer is about to begin something significant or transformative. The line "The night we wake the end we fear" implies that there is something ominous or dangerous about this encounter, but the singer remains determined to proceed. The reference to the heart "pumping" may signify the physical act of sex, but also underscores the idea of trying to revive or jumpstart someone's vitality. The line "It's the same as the hole I'm digging/Digging a shape in human form" is perhaps the most disturbing, suggesting that the singer is either burying someone or creating a new form from the person they are with.
The next verse reinforces the idea of the other person being lifeless or cold, and the singer claims to have tried to keep them warm. However, the image of "lifeless I see magic in you" is again unsettling and suggests a desire to manipulate or control the other person's energy. Overall, the lyrics suggest a dark, ritualistic encounter that is both sexual and supernatural in nature.
