1. Priest is a Swedish band described as 'a synth band that creates music rooted in the vastness of electronic dreams. The goal of their multifaceted prophecy is to safely guide humanity unto the next evolutionary step – the merging with machines.' Official Facebook Page
2. Synth-pop Priest was formerly known as x Priest x. An 80s style synth-pop collaborative effort between vocalist Madeline Priest and producers Dave Kazyk and Chandler Strang (of Saskatchewan fame – an indie act out of Florida well worth a listen), x PRIEST x takes the lo-fi goodness of Grimes and blends it with the cold synths of Zola Jesus.
3. Priest is a Heavy metal band from Toronto, Ontario Canada, Formed in 2012.
4. Priest aka Priest Da Nomad is a rapper from Detroit, Michigan.
As a New York City underground artist, Priest was born in raised in Detroit and Metropolitan Detroit, and began sharpening his craft at the age of 13. Overtime, and despite the ever-changing current of music, Priest established his creative properties with his storytelling abilities and poetic narratives through observant eyes. At age 24, he moved to New York to "get the hell out of Michigan. It's not that I don't love Detroit, I just love it for what it was, for what it means historically. Detroit got worse and worse, really. It's a empty, hollowed-out version of itself. I was in a position where I couldn't survive or pursue to music, and I had the opportunity so I left."
Drawing a large amount of his inspiration lyrically from Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye, Priest's lyrical content encompasses tones of urban commentary, social dialogue and ironic circumstances of everyday life. In essence, Priest is a realist who documents life in his purest form: uninhibited and unrestrained.
Priest's approach, as he describes it, "depends on the mood of what it is I'm doing. Depending on the emotion of the track, or how I feel about the specific direction, I switch my sh*t up accordingly."
His lyrical style, he expressed is "multi-layered, multi-rhythmic, multi-syllabic. I love words, and when you string them together in a certain way and still hold true to the premise of the track, it sounds amazing. It's not just what you're saying, it's how you say it. Your rhyme pattern is a second instrument. It's a verbal melody. Your sh*t has to be tight and flow right, otherwise it's a ridiculous heap of f*cking noise. Lyrics and flow matter, the ability to rhyme matters. If you refer to yourself as a non-lyrical rapper, then you're not a rapper...

I knew life was a myth when I peeped how my mans lived
At times I can't managed my spirit feel damaged
Sick through the planet and dammit I can’t stand it
I wonder who planned it cause it’s wrong where I was planted
Now tell me is it fair that the masons is free
And your brothers ain’t, they faced with facing this beast
American history, show they want to get rid of me
They want black history, without credit in history
Some ashamed at they skin, like why was this did to me
But what you expect from a culture robbed of they identity
Spread across the seven seas and you know it ain’t willingly
This is blood on the whip, it ain't cadillac paint
She asked why they pursued, then they splattered that brain
Tell me is it ok, for a cop to run up in a crib,
On some swastika swat sh-- throwing a pen
And inside of that crib they just drop a grenade
I ain’t talking just a home I’m talking where the baby lay
Now was it God’s grace or Satan’s cruel comedic taste
That that baby still fighting to live with half a face
[Hook: Frank Knight]
Why they want my black life?
Why they want my black soul?
Why they try to tell me where I’m from
When they know where I’m from
And they keep me on the run (2x)
[Verse 2: Killah Priest]
Police brutality the beast mentality,
Eat up our young in the streets of poverty
Melaninated and devil hated
They had us sell’d on slaveships cause we fell from the spaceships
Metal braces keep up segregated and separated
I meditated, dream of better places the wu-goo got me medicated
The dynamite sticks I hit left me elevated
Check it our pigment will not let me accept your religion
Reject from the system, accept ancestor's wisdom
Y'all not God that's dog backwards
That's Anubis practice this is Judas blackness
Dial y'all like a Uber catch it
This is for the youth or truth
This not for the loot this for the fruit
You want to know why they want your black life
Because you bring back Christ
You want to know why they want your black soul
Because it leads to all African gold
You want to know the stories been told
And it's true open the scrolls
[Hook: Frank Knight]
Why they want my black life?
Why they want my black soul?
Why they try to tell me where I’m from
When they know where I’m from
And they keep me on the run (2x)
[Verse 3: Frank Knight]
Black on black crime is engineered as the devil's pit
I’m trying to save you as if I’m molding you celibate
It’s pimps pimping moms prize saying don’t sell a bit
Sell a lot, you broke th--, get daddy heller rich
Kids turn loss trying to find what passion is
Some get mule'd, smoked and passed as some s--
G-- In the bondage of masochist
My habitat attached to where pain sadness lives
But watch out for sirens they cause sirens oh yeah
See even with day care, h-- don’t know care
Get sparked for your Jordan’s it ain’t breezy no air
The ghetto is an animal, when you look don’t show fear
Here they popping pass your death tell me that you got this
Here they popping till your religion seems it’s Godless
My zone is New York, it’s get the chrome when you talk
I don’t know what you thought, but when they draw you chalked
You just a lost game of hangman, a body in chalk
You wasn’t fit for the board to play with the Gotti and shark
So what’s the aftermath… the shotty went spark
Puzzled trying to get yourself together with your body in parts
[Hook: Frank Knight]
Why they want my black life?
Why they want my black soul?
Why they try to tell me where I’m from
When they know where I’m from

The lyrics of Priest's song "History in Black" delve into themes of systemic oppression, racism, and the struggle for identity faced by Black individuals. The verses paint a vivid picture of the realities and challenges faced by Black individuals in society.
In the first verse, Frank Knight reflects on the unfairness of the system. He questions why certain groups, like the Freemasons, are given privilege and freedom while others, particularly Black individuals, face discrimination and persecution. He highlights the erasure of Black history and the struggle for identity that comes with it. The verse also addresses police brutality and the violence that Black communities often face. Frank Knight emphasizes the resilience and determination of Black people, epitomized by a baby still fighting to live despite facing immense adversity.
Killah Priest's verse further explores the idea of oppression and separation. He references police brutality and the mistreatment of Black communities, proclaiming that it is the melanin in their skin that fuels this hatred. He rejects the systems that have tried to control and manipulate Black people, urging them to embrace their ancestral wisdom and reject the imposed religions. The verse highlights the historical significance of Black culture and spirituality, suggesting that this is why their lives and souls are targeted.
In the final verse, Frank Knight addresses the cycle of violence and crime within Black communities. He acknowledges the negative influences and temptations that lead individuals down destructive paths. He criticizes the lack of care and support provided to young people, resulting in them seeking validation and success through illegal means. The verse also speaks to the dangers and risks associated with living in impoverished neighborhoods, where violence is a constant threat and survival becomes the priority.
Overall, the lyrics of "History in Black" shine a light on the struggles faced by Black individuals within the context of systemic racism and oppression. The song calls for recognition, understanding, and the empowerment of Black communities.

I can't stop, it's too late
It pulls out, it's my fate
My legacy in black
Looking in to my eyes
See the things I despise
My soul is tainted black
Silent screams longing voice
Out of dreams, ringing noise
My memory is black
It's not a mask, it's my skin
Please don't ask where I've been
My heart is painted black
I traveled with the enemy
I thought it was my destiny
I'm free of all the lunacy
I never want it back, my history in black
I escaped from the cage
Inside
I traveled with the enemy
I thought it was my destiny
I'm free of all the lunacy
I never want it back, my history in black
My history in black.
