Everybody start to sing
La dee da, ho, ho, ho
Now you're singing with a swing
Sing, sing, sing, sing
Everybody start to sing
La dee da, ho, ho, ho
And when the music goes around
Everybody goes to town
But here's something you should know
Ho ho baby ho ho ho
Sing, sing, sing, sing
Everybody start to sing
La dee da, ho, ho, ho
Now you're singing with a swing
And when the music goes around
Everybody goes to town
But here's something you should know
Ho ho baby ho ho ho
Sing, sing, sing, sing
Everybody start to sing
La dee da, ho, ho, ho
Now you're singing with a swing

My late father in law played with the New Orleans Gang in the early 30s when he graduated the Brothers of Sacred Heart orphanage school in Mobile. Louis Prima didn't know him as he had moved on to a WPA band and then become a policeman and border patrol before WW2.
In the 60s as a lawyer and state legislator, he was in NYC and went to see Prima at a club. Some (most) of his band had played with my wife's dad. One and two at a time they noticed him and put down their instruments to go to his table. Prima was pissed, but played it for comedy.
He stopped the set and announced:
"I have to meet the MAN
that stole my BAND."
What a life man...what a life. They lived a richer life in 20 years than we do in 80.

Incredible to think that this is a record from 1936. The sound is so clear and crisp. Sounds like it may have been recorded yesterday.

So this is the 50s recording.

It is over 4 minutes. The 30s recording was a single on a 78 A side...about 2 and 1/2 minutes if I recall.
The Goodman arrangement in the 30s was two sides of a long playing oversized 78. Thats why it trails off....then fades back in on the Flip side to make it looonng.
