(huh)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Prince and the New Power Generation's song I Wanna Melt With U are about the desire to engage in sexual activity with a partner. The verses describe how the desire to have sex builds up over time until it becomes overwhelming, as indicated in the opening lines, "I got seven hours, baby/So what ya want to do? (Ooh, I want to melt with you)." Prince's sensual and explicit lyrics are meant to seduce the listener, using imagery that evokes the feeling of melting and the warmth of two bodies intertwining.

The chorus, "I want to melt with you", is repeated throughout the song as a hypnotic mantra, with Prince's falsetto vocals taking center stage. The song is an ode to the type of sexual experience that is slow and intense, but also fun and liberating. Prince also references the concept of "safe sex" in the lyrics, suggesting that he is aware of the importance of taking precautions when engaging in sexual activity.

Overall, "I Wanna Melt With U" is a classic Prince song that features his signature blend of sensuality, funk, and rock. It is a celebration of sexual desire and the human body, with Prince's lyrics and music creating a sense of urgency and excitement.

I've read each and every comment and I'm glad you all are showing so much love for our collective hard work on this show! I'm super proud to have been a part of Prince's career and so humbled he was a part of mine. ♥

@@gmyers4967 I began to notice that if it started with “Scottie, …” he wanted me to make an adjustment but if he used my name at the end of the phrase like, “ Turn it up, Scottie!” he was using it more as punctuation. In the above video it was one of the times it started with “Scottie…” but he didn’t really need me to turn it up, it was plenty loud, he was trying to inspire the people in the balcony. At the top when he says, “…turn the guitar up! Didn’t I tell you never to touch a grown man’s stereo!” he was actually mad at the Monitor Engineer. 🤣 The Monitor Engineers almost never followed the feel of the music.
