Early life
Pritam was born in Kolkata into a Bengali family. Pritam is the son of Prabodh Chakraborty, who runs a music school for children. Pritam gained his early training in music from his father and learned to play the guitar while still in school.
After completing his schooling at St. James' School and college education at Presidency College, he went to a music school. At Presidency he was the Social Services Secretary of the Students Union run by the Independents' Consolidation (IC). Pritam joined a Bangla band, Chandrabindoo. Before that he formed another band with his Presidency batchmates, called "Jotugriher Pakhi". They even have a cassette released to their credit at that time. In January 1993, Pritam joined the Film and Television Institute in Pune to undertake a course in sound recording and sound engineering. During this time, he was offered a chance to compose background music for a film by Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Gaal. He also learned African music from musicologist Kedar Avati.
Career
Having completed his education, Pritam Chakraborty moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. During his stay in Mumbai, he began composing ad jingles, and became friendly with a number of other young men struggling to make it big, like Shantanu Moitra, Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Gadhvi and Chandrajeet Ganguly, also known as Jeet, who played the guitar with Anup Jalota.
Pritam got his first break when Gadhvi was signed on to direct Tere Liye and he, in turn, signed on his friends Jeet and Pritam as music composers. Though the music was well received, the film sank at the box office. However, in 2002 Yashraj Films signed Gadhvi up to direct Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, for which the Jeet-Pritam duo once again composed the music. All the songs from that movie were chartbusters, and the duo had hit the big time. His music comprises various kinds including Indian classical music and western influences. Pritam was then actively involved in mentoring and judging new talent on Zee TV's singing competition show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009.
[edit] Solo career
Jeet and Pritam worked together for only one more film which was Mudda-The Issue, before amicably parting. After the separation, Pritam's career as a solo musician stalled as he signed a series of flops like Fun2shh - Dudes In The 10th Century and Agnipankh. The films sank at the box office and with them, Pritam’s music too. However, in 2004, Pritam composed the music for Sanjay Gadhvi's second film, Dhoom, which was a runaway success. The film did well and the music topped the charts.
Pritam followed up the success of Dhoom with a string of chartbusting numbers after a year for Chocolate, Garam Masala and Gangster. Also he composed the music for Dhoom 2, the sequel to [Dhoom] & Life in a Metro. Most recently he composed the music for Singh Is Kinng, Kismat Konnection and formed a Band named Metro. His most top rated musics are from the movies Dhoom, Dhoom2, Gangster, Life in a metro, Jab we met, Race, Billu, Love Aaj Kal, Golmaal Returns, Tum Mile, Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, De Dana Dan, Toh Baat Pakki, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, Badmaash Company and more.

Be Intehaan
Pritam Lyrics

Dil mera suno na suno zara
Teri baahon mein
Mujhe rehna hai raat bhar
Teri baahon mein hogi subah
Be intehaan, be intehaan
Yun pyaar kar, be intehaan
Tere nishan, be intehaan
Koi kasar na rahe, meri khabar na rahe
Choole mujhe is kadar, be intehaan
Jab saanson me teri
Saansen ghuli toh phir sulagne lage
Ehsaas mere mujhse kehne lage
Aa baahon me teri aake
Jahaan do yun simatne lage
Sailaab jaise koi behne lage
Khoya hun main aagosh mein
Tu bhi kahaan ab hosh mein
Makhmali raat ki ho na subah
Be intehaan, be intehaan.
Yun pyar kar be intehaan.
Gustakhiyan kuch tum karo
Kuch hum karein is tarah
Sharmake do saayen hai jo
Muh ferle hum se yahan
Haan choo toh liya hai ye jism tune
Rooh bhi chum le
Alfaaz bhige bhige kyun hai mere
Haan yun choor hoke majboor hoke
Katra katra kahen
Ehsaas bhige bhige kyun hain mere
Do bekhabar bhige badan
Ho besabar bhige badan
Le rahe raat bhar angdaiyaan
Be intehaan, be intehaan
Yun pyar kar, be intehaan
Dekha karun saari umar
Tere nishan, be intehaan
Koi kasar na rahe, meri khabar na rahe
Choole mujhe is kadar be intehaan...
The song "Be Intehaan" is a beautiful romantic number from the Bollywood film Race 2. Sung by Atif Aslam and Sunidhi Chauhan, the song is composed by Pritam and the lyrics are penned by Mayur Puri. The song is all about falling in love and being completely smitten with one's partner. It begins with the singer urging their lover to listen to their heart and stay with them all night long in their arms.
The chorus "Be Intehaan" signifies that their love knows no bounds, and they want to love their partner limitlessly. The next verse illustrates that the singer would do anything to be with their lover, even if it means losing themselves in their embrace. The song's lyrics beautifully convey the physical and emotional intimacy between partners and how they lose themselves in each other's love. The song reaches its climax with the chorus, where the singer wants to be so close to their lover that there's no space between them.
Overall, "Be Intehaan" is a passionate love song that conveys the feeling of being lost in a lover's embrace. The lyrics, sung by Atif Aslam and Sunidhi Chauhan, add to the song's charm and make it one of the most loved romantic songs in Bollywood.

Suno na kahe kya suno na
Listen, tell me what you want to say
Dil mera suno na suno zara
Listen to my heart, listen closely
Teri baahon mein
In your arms
Mujhe rehna hai raat bhar
I want to stay all night
Teri baahon mein hogi subah
Morning will come in your embrace
Be intehaan, be intehaan
Without limits, limitless
Yun pyaar kar, be intehaan
Love without limits
Dekha karun sari umar
I will see all my life
Tere nishan, be intehaan
Your mark without limit
Koi kasar na rahe, meri khabar na rahe
I don't want anything to be left, I don't care about myself
Choole mujhe is kadar, be intehaan
Touch me so much, without limit
Jab saanson me teri
When your breath
Saansen ghuli toh phir sulagne lage
Breaths mingle, then they start to ignite
Ehsaas mere mujhse kehne lage
My feelings started to speak to me
Aa baahon me teri aake
Come into your arms
Jahaan do yun simatne lage
Where two start to come closer like this
Sailaab jaise koi behne lage
Like a flood, something starts flowing
Khoya hun main aagosh mein
I'm lost in your embrace
Tu bhi kahaan ab hosh mein
Where are you now, conscious?
Makhmali raat ki ho na subah
Hope this velvet night never turns into morning
Gustakhiyan kuch tum karo
You do some audacity
Kuch hum karein is tarah
Let's do something like this
Sharmake do saayen hai jo
Two shadows shyly
Muh ferle hum se yahan
Turn their face away from us here
Haan choo toh liya hai ye jism tune
Yes, you've touched this body
Rooh bhi chum le
Kiss the soul too
Alfaaz bhige bhige kyun hai mere
Why are my words wet?
Haan yun choor hoke majboor hoke
Yes, by becoming helpless and dishonest
Katra katra kahen
Every drop says
Ehsaas bhige bhige kyun hain mere
Why are my feelings wet?
Do bekhabar bhige badan
Two ignorant wet bodies
Ho besabar bhige badan
Impatient wet bodies
Le rahe raat bhar angdaiyaan
Taking yawns all night long
