It's an Omen
It's an Omen
It's an Omen

Now!
The writing's on the wall
It won't go away
It's an Omen
You just run on automation
Now!
The writing's on the wall
It won't go away
It's an Omen
It's an Omen
It's an Omen

Now!
The writing's on the wall
It won't go away
It's an Omen
You just run on automation

Now!
Now!

Now!
The writing's on the wall
It won't go away
It's an Omen
You just run on automation

Now!
The Writing's on the wall
It won't go away
It's an Omen
It's an Omen
It's an Omen

Now!
It's an Omen
Now!

Now!

Now!
Now!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Prodigy The's song "Omen" are relatively simple, but the repetition of the refrain helps drive home a sense of urgency and foreboding. The "writing on the wall" suggests that something ominous is happening or about to happen, and the phrase "it won't go away" implies that the singer is either unable or unwilling to ignore it. The repetition of "It's an Omen" underscores the idea that the situation is significant and portentous, perhaps even fated.

The reference to running on automation adds to the sense of helplessness, as if the singer is unable to avoid or escape whatever this foretelling entails. The use of "Now" repeated throughout the song creates a sense of immediacy, as if we are in the midst of the omen as it unfolds.

Overall, the lyrics to "Omen" feel like a warning or a call to action. The singer is telling us that something important is happening, insisting that we pay attention and perhaps brace ourselves for what's to come.

It's so self referencing but still so fresh. I love it.

Many musicians tend to shun their early work, especially if it becomes "unfashionable" or subjectively less intelligent or evolved as later stuff.

But this track is like a big declaration of "fuck that, I'm PROUD of everything we've done"

It's like the spirit of their earlier stuff but re-mastered in 4k HDR and then a sprinkle of all other other periods in their career.

Some critics considered it a lazy re-tread but I see it more as a celebration of their music and not being afraid to look back and acknowledge where they came from while still moving forward.
